Just his name conjures up so many puns.  The news guys on the radio were talking about a "Weiner Roast" when he did not resign when asked.  If I had a name like that, if I were in politics, I would be the most moral & honest body you could lay hands on-RHL

Yep, the NYC tabloids have been having a field day over the past few weeks, including:

Sadly, I have to give you a woo for that Barbara.  I always feel sad when I see one of the "good guys" revealed to be an idiot.  John Edwards, is another.

Good guys?  They always finish last, as the saying goes.  The politicians care less what the people think.  Politics has become a game of spin doctoring and denying. I would not be surprised if the Ds let this Weiner thing play out for as long as possible so they do not have to answer the hard questions such as what about our huge national debt?

Now why did the political mass media report on this racy photo of US Congress Representative Mary Bono (Sunny Bono's widow, the former singer turned Republican Congressman) of California?

This Geek wonders why a middle age Congresswoman, of either major party, caught in a compromising photo is also not from page news?

Assuming you meant to say "why did the political mass media not report on this racy photo..." I can think of several reasons:

1) A quick Google check reveals that it did receive coverage -- about six months ago -- and that the photo is close to five years old.

2) It wasn't a photo she sent to others (a la Weiner), it was a photo taken of her. Further, it was "leaked" with the obvious intention of damaging her politically, and most responsible members of the mainstream media are savvy enough to see through that -- and the fact that it is a non-story -- and thus brush it off.

3) Why is this "scandalous"? Because a woman should never be sexual or express her sexuality in public? Or, because she is, as you label her, "middle aged"?

4) As for it being "sexually suggestive," on the one hand, there's nothing to suggest they simply weren't goofing off and, on the other hand, I've seen Facebook profile photos that are much more lurid and suggestive than this.

5) Contrary to the irresponsible suggestion in the Radar piece, her companion is not being investigated by the FBI for the activity captured in this photo, but rather, for financial fraud committed by her with her now ex-husband. And she isn't "now being investigated by the FBI," the investigation has been going on since 2008.

6) Lesbians are hot.

P.S.  Mary Bono's deceased husband's name was Sonny, though I've heard that he did have a sunny disposition...

I posted the article containing the sexually suggestive picture about Rep. Bono for a reason ... To show how absurd and obsessed with the sex lives of politicians the mass media is based upon consumer demand, i.e., "what sells".

Nutty, I completely missed your point! My apologies!

Classy Press Conference, haha.

With Bill Clinton "officiating" at the Weiner wedding, I take it the wedding was not a Jewish ceremony, but a civil one. Presuming Bill applied for the license to allow him to marry them, one wonders how Anthony and Huma Weiner's fetus will be raised... Muslim, or not?  Lots left to play out in this story I believe, and he has not ruled out running for his "own" seat, all but stating he will be seeking further elective office.  How long until he has his own show on MSNBC or CNN.. maybe a debate 'moderator'? Oh well, nothing to see here, move along.

I heard this song on the radio on Friday morning and I just about pissed myself laughing. It's a parody of an Elton John song and it's called "Weiner in the Wind". I Can't find it anywhere but here you should give it a listen:

Also yesterday, a former porn star who was corresponding with Weiner said he told her to lie about their relationship, and she would be willing to testify to that in a court.

Jeez, what's the world coming to when a porn whore won't lie to protect you!

Should the title of that have been "Weiner gets screwed twice"?

Remember the Golden Rule: you do me, and I\'ll do you (paraphrased)

Blow against O in Weiner race
Koch: Vote for GOPer a vote for Israel

By CARL CAMPANILE
Last Updated: 2:51 AM, July 12, 2011

In "a shot across President Obama's bow," Democratic former Mayor Ed Koch yesterday urged voters in Queens and Brooklyn to make "history" by voting for the Republican candidate to replace randy ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner in the Sept. 13 special election -- as a protest against the White House's policy on Israel.

Koch -- a staunch ally of Israel -- said he would "vote for Bob Turner" if the Republican-Conservative candidate backs Israel and opposes cutbacks to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

"If Jewish New Yorkers and others who support Israel were to turn away from the Democratic Party in that congressional election and elect the Republican candidate to Congress in 2011, it might very well cause President Obama to change his hostile position on the state of Israel and to re-establish the special relationship presidents before him had supported," Koch said in his weekly commentary.

Koch likened the situation to Republican Scott Brown winning the Massachusetts Senate seat long occupied by Ted Kennedy.

"I want to put a shot across Obama's bow," Koch said in an interview.

He is furious with Obama over the president's public push to get Israel to use its 1967 borders as a starting point for negotiations over a Palestinian state.

Koch also said he's upset with Obama for considering trimming Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid to get a deficit/debt reduction agreement with the GOP.

Koch's comments are an early headache for Assemblyman David Weprin, the Democratic candidate handpicked to replace Weiner, who resigned in disgrace amid a sexting scandal.

As expected, Weprin yesterday received the endorsement of the union-backed Working Families Party. He got the backing of the Independence Party over the weekend.

Meanwhile Turner, a retired media executive, launched his candidacy at the Forest Hills railroad station. He was joined by a bevy of party bosses, including state GOP chairman Ed Cox and state Conservative Party honcho Mike Long.

GOP sources in Washington said Turner faces long odds because Democrats hold a 100,000-voter registration advantage in the district. Because of the disparity, the national party is reluctant to pour a lot of money into the race, but officials say they are monitoring the race to see if Turner catches fire.

Careful now. Koch isn't driven by ideology. The Koch brothers support far right wing ideology because it can make them more profits. Which is why they support the Tea Party with funds.

There are three kinds of people in the world. Those who can count, and those who can't.

Can Anthony Weiner make a comeback?

The New York Democrat resigned last year after a sexting scandal, yet he's already planning a new bid for office — possibly even a New York City mayoral run

July 16, 2012

Former congressman Anthony Weiner, who resigned over an embarrassing sexting scandal last year, is reportedly considering a bid to return to elected office. Ignoring analysis from some political experts who say the incident was a career-ending implosion, Weiner has been contacting local power brokers and his own former staffers to discuss a comeback, possibly with a run for mayor of New York City. Weiner, once considered a rising star in the Democratic Party, still has the support of his wife, Huma Abedin, a high-ranking aide to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Could Weiner really claw his way back so soon after his cringe-inducing downfall?

It takes more than infidelity to sink U.S. politicians: Weiner really might have a realistic path to redemption, says Keyana Stevens at The Village Voice. He still has $4.5 million in campaign funds at his disposal, enough to make him a contender in any city race. If he's smart, he might hold off on going for Gracie Mansion right away, instead running for Public Advocate, a do-gooder post considered "first in line to succeed the mayor." Weiner may have looked like he was finished, but apparently you "have to commit more than a passing infidelity in order to be shut out of politics."
"Disgraced pol Anthony Weiner considering a mayoral run"

Weiner might be able to come back... just not yet: "It's much, much too soon" for Weiner to ask voters to forgive him, Fordham University political science professor Bruce F. Berg tells The New York Times. He might have a chance at a second political life, but it could take years for those images to fade. "In a crowded Democratic primary, especially for a citywide office, he doesn't have a chance."
"Anthony Weiner longs for a second chance in politics, friends say"

He can try, but his image is tarnished for good: Weiner is in a worse position than politicians whose transgressions were far more egregious, says Azi Paybarah at Capital New York: Bill Clinton and Eliot Spitzer bounced back because their scandals "involved little visual evidence of their wrong-doing." Weiner's adventures were sex-less, but he compounded the damage by sending indecent photos of himself to female supporters, and those will follow him around "as long as there's an internet."

Note: I tend to agree with the person who left this comment at the end of the article: "When will our political leadership's competence be measured on achievements within the beltway instead of achievements below the belt line?"

In other words, I still think he's a pig. But if he ran for Mayor of NYC in 2013, I would seriously consider voting for him.
