Thursday May 2nd

    National Truffle Day
    National Life Insurance Day
National Day of Prayer (First Thursday in May)
National Day of Reason (First Thursday in May)
World Password Day (First Thursday in May)

I for one have never had a truffle. I wonder if they're really as good as I've heard.

World Password Day. Maybe I'll change mine from 7890 to celebrate.  ^-^

Truffles: I had them, once, on the expense account. They're good, nice delicate subtly penetrating flavor, but not as good as my grandmother's pot roast.

Wasn't there a TV game show called Password?

Today we should all pray for our so called leaders to reason out their differences, quit bickering and get on with running our country.

Mr. Chow:  Well, used to be just baloney, but now they make you add number.

Am I the only one that sees issues with both National Day of Prayer and National Day of Reason on the same date?  Maybe you have to be an atheist to spot the flaw...

Nope. I'm a confirmed theist, and it's the first thing I noticed.

And prayer and reason are not mutually exclusive...

Friday May 3rd

    National SAN Architect Day
    National Lumpy Rug Day
    National Garden Meditation Day
    National Specially-Able Pets Day
National Two Different Colored Shoes Day
    National Paranormal Day
    National Chocolate Custard Day
    National Raspberry Pop Over Day
    National Textiles Day
    National Montana Day
National Space Day (First Friday in May)
School Lunch Hero Day (First Friday in May)

If I sat down to make a list of things that should have a day of celebration, I'm not sure I'd ever come up with Lumpy Rugs or Two Different Colored Shoes. But somebody did.

Paranormal Day is fitting for a book I've just started, but I'll write about that in the Books forum.

I didn't know there was a day for it.  When I wear two different colored shoes,
I just call it another Senior Moment. :emot_laughing:

This was probably just a local thing, but when I was in high school in the mid- to late-1990s, we did this thing where you find someone with the same shoe size as you, and you each buy a pair of Converse sneakers in two different colors, and then you exchange one show. I spent a year walking around with one red and one white sneaker.

Yeah, trendsetters! My high school was so completely generic it could serve as the perfect model for "Typical 1990s Suburban High School."

At the time, Converse weren't all that big. They were, as you know, huge in the 60s and 70s, and they've enjoyed a more recent renaissance (I have a pair of red Chuck Taylor high tops that I wear all the time). So, in that respect, we were a little trendsetting. But only a little...

Red Chuck Taylor high tops? I have seen a pair or two around our home back then. Along with combat boots, torn fish net stockings and other punk-like items.  8)

You'll never see fishnets on me! I wore them once as part of a Halloween costume, but they're totally not my style.
