"The Starchild-He who draws from the deep wells of the soul and emotion, bringer of passion and pain. He can move a heart to tender love or murderous rage. His is the element of water."

IMO the cover is better. faster tempo in the cover is what makes it better to me.

Sleeping With Sirens - Iris (Goo Goo Dolls Cover)

I really like this band. The first few songs I heard, I argued with my son that it was a female lead, it's not. They have a nice soft side in the metalcore music. Another band that's worth looking up if you think they sound good.

"Since You've Been Gone" Rainbow (Russ Ballard cover)

And here's Brian May covering the same song (the song itself begins around 1:50):

"Sometimes the best things in life are a hot girl and a cold beer."

Cherie and Marie Currie also covered "Since You've Been Gone" as well!

"The Starchild-He who draws from the deep wells of the soul and emotion, bringer of passion and pain. He can move a heart to tender love or murderous rage. His is the element of water."

"A Certain Girl" -- The original by Alen Toussaint and cool covers by Ernie K-Doe, the Yardbirds, and Warren Zevon:

"Sometimes the best things in life are a hot girl and a cold beer."

Outstanding post MissB.

While I enjoyed the covers will admit the original was best by far...but that's just me.

The video by Ernie K-Doe was fun to watch.

I especially love Warren Zevon's version. That's the first version of the song I heard. And the Ernie K-Doe video is a lot of fun....

Picking up on what Tiny Dancer posted in "Whay are you listening to?" this morning:

http://www.kristensboard.com/forums/index.php?topic=7401.1620

The original Led Zeppelin tune "The Lemon Song" song riffs on the lyrics from Robert Johnson song, "Travelling Riverside Blues," especially these lines:

You can squeeze my lemon till
Juice run down my leg.
You can squeeze my lemon till
Juice run down my leg.
That's what I'm talking about!

Interestingly, Led Zeppelin also recorded a cover "Tevelling Riverside Blues" around the same time that they recorded "The Lemon Song," though it wouldn't be released for over a decade.

For me, Led Zeppelin's version of "Travelling Riverside Blues" is one of those rare instances where the cover was at least as good, and perhaps even better, than the original.
