If 2009 suffered the Summer of Death, call this the Winter of Heartbreak. Ryan Reynolds and Scarlett Johansson are the latest casualties in a recent spat of high-profile break-ups that includes Zac Efron & Vanessa Hudgens and Michael C. Hall & Jennifer Carpenter (and that's just counting yesterday).

Scarlett and Ryan have only been married since September, 2008. They've been seeing each other since 2007. TMZ reported the couple's split on Tuesday, but so far details are scarce. The gossip website reports that the separation is "amicable" and that the two have been living apart from each other.

A source close to the couple told Us magazine : "They are being very civil about it. ... The big problem with their relationship is the distance. They spent a lot of time apart when they are working... She's been unhappy for a while."

The two stars have a string of movies due out in the next few years. While Scarlett is attached to the Iron Man/Avengers franchise, Ryan is set to star in two other comic book adaptations: Green Lantern, and Deadpool.

this picture looks like one of those cheesy cropped together photos from the Star or Globe.  Certainly dont look happy or together. just sayin -give me the ones of her alone.

Scarlett Johansson already has another man in her arms   -- and it's the one and only Johnny Depp . The same day TMZ broke the news Scarlett and Ryan Reynolds were divorcing -- she was  spotted in Jamaica on Tuesday holding a copy of Vanity Fair with Johnny Depp on the cover. Guess it's time to turn the page.
