no, I just finished compressing it to 8 gigs, into a rar file and now will make another torrent, then up that torrent file again, and distribute it again to all interested parties.

Thanks for the warning, though I do not plan on passing along any viruses. Like I stated elsewhere, I downloaded it, scanned it, and it has sat on an external hard drive. Now I zipped it and am personally sharing it with those that want it. So nothing bad on my end, because I love you all, and want nothing bad to happen to anyone.

I'm sorry, I wasn't more precise.
I commend WB for his hard work on this, and I have no doubt that his files are clean.
It is the Torrent Clients that worries me some. some of them tend to link to all kinds of bad sites while you download. So what I meant was: Make sure you have good antivirus and antimalware when you use those clients.

I hope, I make more sense this time.  :D

I can't remember the details, but about twenty years ago there was talk of Google taking over Deja News and archiving all Usenet newsgroups.

I don't think much came of that, but the Internet Archive has been archiving millions of web pages with its Wayback Machine. I checked a few minutes ago, and it has around twenty years of asst.org pages available to view:

There are of course some bad clients out there, but there are also some clients that can be trusted for torrenting, those usually are open source and make it onto linux distribution repositories. Can one get hurt by torrenting though? yes, if one downloads something bad, or download a bad client, or don't update the client when security issues happen, or get into trouble with isp/law for something, and so forth.

It is also great that the wayback machine/internet archive has asstr.org.

Though I rather we all have a copy of most of asstr.org so we don't put all eggs in one basket :)

I want to thank [author=Writers Bloque] for building the torrent of Kirsten Archive stories (possibly incomplete, but something is better than nothing. I'd be willing to contribute to posting the rescued material somewhere safe for everyone that doesn't burden this esteemed Kirstenboarder.

That link is an absolute goldmine. The collections that disappeared a couple of years ago are there and the last update was June 30. 2022.
