I am knee-deep into this obviously, because of my connections to Ukraine and my daily involvement with things there. But this is turning into a massive shit storm.

Putin plans to call a “referendum“ on the admission of the Donbas and Kherson regions into Russia. Meaning that he will now claim they are part of his national territory, the same way he stole Crimea in 2014. He will then use the fighting in those areas as an “attack on Russian soil“ which allows the use of tactical nuclear weapons. I think the minute he employs strategic nuclear missiles on Ukraine, we’re going to have World War III. There’s no way to avoid that.

Unfortunately, the man is absolutely out of his head. Much like Hitler at the end of World War II. And so there is no guarantee as to anything he will want to do. The point of the matter is the majority of Russia is against this. All of the world is against this. This is becoming a major shit storm.

I truly believe this crazy man is capable of anything. I keep holding out hope cooler heads in the government, along with the military will remove him from the board. Doubt if there's any impeachment process in Russia, so I guess a bullet in the head is the next best thing.

I saw a clip on TV showing several Russian supporters going through an apartment building armed with ballots. They were accompanied by armed soldiers. Just hope that doesn't give Trump any ideas.

Hopefully, if he decides to use tactical nikes, one of his flunkies will realize the consequences and either arrest him or put a bullet in his skull.

And Russia isn't going to get away with this, no matter what. They use nukes, NATO will be invading Moscow...;..if its not turned into a smoking crater first.

I'm surprisingly not worried about him using nuclear weapons. He knows it will destroy him and his nation. He would go down as the creature that destroyed Russia.

Also, even though nothing is fool proof, every eye that controls systems designed to take down nuclear weapons are trained on Russia and its allies. Anything big popping out of the ground will be seen and delt with.

And finally
"This is not a bluff", is what people say when they are bluffing, in my opinion.

That might be the best solution to eliminate the need to do this over and over again.

What needs to happen is for someone to invade Russia, kick some ass, and tell them that Putin and any other KGB/Cold War era motherfuckers are ineligible to serve in the government at all. That's why this is happening: Cold War era leftovers who think the Soviet Union should still exist, under a dictatorship just like the old days.

I cannot disagree with anything you said.

The problem is, Ukraine is not going to overrun Moscow. That will take NATO’s involvement, and that will require an escalation.

I think we have now answered questions concerning Russia’s combat readiness, logistics, and armaments. Add there is no doubt that they are extremely deficient in every category. A paper Tiger. So we would be foolish not to take advantage at this moment to permanently cripple Russia’s ability to wage war. If they had that ability to begin with.

I would not be opposed to NATO getting involved, rolling up to the Kremlin, dragging Putin outside and hanging him on the spot, then sending all his cronies/underlings straight to the Gulag. No trials necessary.

So much going on. Russia declared it is annexing four states in Ukraine, while simultaneously losing territory and control in those four states. People are openly criticizing Putin on state television, and their war hawks are increasingly demanding the deployment of tactical nukes. This would be in the form of a low load nuclear missile fired from a sub or warship on the Black Sea. I think everyone must realize, that once nukes are used, this becomes World War III. Because NATO cannot watch a nation that has applied for a membership, be struck by a weapon that the entire world has agreed must never be used.

My “it’s complicated” sort of wife has been receiving reports from her village in Russia that young men she taught in school are being called up for mobilization. These fellows are being handed old Soviet era uniforms and rifles, and are being sent to the front, with only a week of training. It’s not even cannon fodder. It’s Russian genocide self inflicted on Russians.

I think NATO would get involved even if Ukraine hadn't applied for membership, because Russia would be using nuclear weapons way too close to their countries.

Hope is that if Putin tries to use nukes, his lackeys will realize what that would mean and would move to remove him from power immediately and permanently.

The U.S. has already been running studies of the effects that tactical nukes would have. These are small nukes that would take out several blocks of a city or a large group of soldiers.

The problem for Russia is the radiation would probably drift back to Russia.

Also the use of nukes could cause India and China to join in the sanctions and quit buying oil from Russia. Their money is all that's supporting Putin's war.

Regardless of what happens, Putin has got to go, along with his yes men. In fact, it would be best if any Cold War relics like him were banned from power.  They're why Russia is still a dictatorship and is trying to put the Soviet Union back together.

UAD broke through Russian defensive lines in Kershon today.  Estimated 5,000 Ruzzians killed.

The State of the War

Russian Retreats: Russian forces are on the run across a broad swath of the front line, as the Ukrainian military presses its offensive in the east and makes gains in the south. The advances have belied Mr. Putin’s claims to have absorbed into Russia territories that his armies are steadily losing.

Putin’s Nuclear Threats: For the first time since the Cuban Missile Crisis in 1962, top Russian leaders are making explicit nuclear threats and officials in Washington are gaming out scenarios should Mr. Putin decide to use a tactical nuclear weapon.

Russia’s Draft: The Kremlin has acknowledged that its new military draft is rife with problems, as protests have erupted across Russia, recruitment centers have been attacked and thousands of men have left the country.

Annexation Push: After Moscow’s proxies conducted a series of sham referendums in the Ukrainian regions of Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Luhansk and Donetsk, President Vladimir V. Putin declared the four territories to be part of Russia. Western leaders, including President Biden in the United States, denounced the annexation as illegal. UA President Zelenskyy signed decrees voiding all four referendums today.

All of Kharkiv is under Ukrainian control. Russians have retreated from the Oskil River. Ukrainian liberators are now fighting in Kherson.

I'm waiting to see which happens first: The Russians turning on Putin and getting rid of him one way or another, or NATO getting involved.
