Y is definitely a vowel in modern English.  When I was in about the 2nd grade, which was a VERY long time ago, we all memorized the vowels: a e i o u, sometimes y and sometimes w.   Now to be fair I only know of one word with a w vowel.   There is actually a 5 letter word but it is an old welsh word.  But Y pops up frequently enough to be fair game.

All that said the Y word this week, I only know it as a root for other words.   Definitely not something I’ve ever said as a stand alone.

Looks like a lot of people start with adieu.  I used to use story as the second word but switch between that and snort the n is used more than the y in my opinion. Today I skipped the usual second word
