Asstr FTP gone?

For the last few months, I've been combing the FTP side of Asstr looking for good stories. About a week ago, I went back and got a 404 error. I thought it was nothing unusual and waited a few days. When I went back, it now says port not found and so does any story I found and saved the link for. Anyone know what's going on?

I’m wondering the same. I’ve been trying to access it for 2 days now, and nothing will load leading to a network timeout.

This is the third time I can recall the ASSTR site going down in recent years. Maybe it will be back. Maybe it will not. Conflicting information, somebody has been acting as an administrator, but no clue who that person is. Our site is independently owned and operated.

It appears to have gone totally down; the email address who in the past has arranged for problems to be fixed is not answering (although I understand the address itself is not bouncing); they had to travel in the past to deal with server issues but the last incident was a couple of years ago as I recall.  There's a current effort to start building a similar site, but it's unlikely they can retrieve what was on the ASSTR server.

The entire site has been copied to https://asstr.xyz There’s an explanation about it at the top and the bottom of our homepage.

Well, I know that the xyz site did not get my story set from ASSTR, and since there are only three authors listed under the letter R it's likely there's a large swath missing.

But I think I only had thirty or forty stories posted there, and I've now loaded everything on the asslr site that's trying to get started.  I don't think they're ready to let everyone hit the server yet though, so I'm scattering stories here, stories on line, literotica, fetlife (where I'm going to try and get all of mine loaded eventually) and a few other places.

Ahhh... the FTP entry path has that; the main path through the pretty web page doesn't.

Yeah I figured that out almost immediately after the website went up. So the FTP path doesn’t work, and FTP file names are still subject to browser pickiness. (I’ve always had difficulties with my iOS phone), But you can get to the content, if you go through the back door.

It just raised my eyebrow, because we’ve had some “catfish” show up here in the past who have pretended to be old usenet figures. We respect copyrights, and the creator’s control over their own work. Welcome aboard.

Thanks.  I'll cop to being old, and my stuff went out on usenet (and FIdoNet before that).  But I'm not sure I qualify as an "old usenet figure".  There are writers out there who certainly merit that recognition more than I do.

FTP Site is coming up and going down regularly... I usually try to copy all new files from Authors/ every few months, and sometimes I can connect and sometime I can't. Usually access comes back in few weeks, but sometimes it takes longer.
