I can't imagine having those many teeth pulled out at one time.  Was the dental assistant helping you to relieve some of the pain?  ;D ;D

It's horrible that they had to remove so many teeth on top of the infection. Now I'm just wondering how your next cheese run will go.

On my many visits to the VA, I never saw a nurse or other worker without a smile on their face. Some doctors are nice and will joke around. But I never had a bad experience at the VA.
I'm really glad to hear that! It's the exact opposite of the 25 years I've been going to the VA.

Medical visits to the VA are good too. It must be one of the better VA Medical Centers
Everyone I meet is so friendly and helpful.
I'm thrilled you're getting good care! I hope they're able to help you have the best possible quality of life for the time you have remaining. The way you're dealing with this is an inspiration to me, and helps me put my own medical problems in perspective.

It wasn't always like that. When I left the service in 1970, the word was people wouldn't even send their dog to the VA.  The VA has definitely improved since then.

Off to see oncology nurse today. They want to start infusions of a drug to strengthen my bones. I had to have some teeth.pulled first, as dental problems could arise. Now that that's taken care of, hope they can start the infusions soon. Getting out of bed in the morning is hell. Lots of pain and very unstable even with my cane. Takes about an hour for the drugs.to kick in. After that I'm of with regular doses of pain killers. VA is keeping well supplied. :D

Will report back after my appointment. Oh yes, the support I get here helps bunches and I don't have to swallow any pills for that. :emot_kiss:

Yesterday's appointment was fairly routine. Good news was my blood tests have returned to normal. Readings really took a beating from the chemo therapy. Plus other medical problems that popped up along the way. Now their returning closer to normal.

Looks good for getting the infusions to strengthen my bones. I'll be going in next week after my nurse practitioner talks with the Oncologist for final approval. If that's given it's down the hall I go for the infusion. Will be the same people who gave me the chemo treatments. These infusions will only take about 15 minutes. Not sure how many are planned.

Tomorrow I go for three hours of MRIs. They're checking my brain, head and neck and spine. Also I travel to the ends of the earth. We'll, far northern suburb. Then on the 29th I go in for another PET scan. That shows where all the cancer spots are in my body and how fast their spreading. Guess it's better to know than be surprised.

And so the adventure continues. Helps having all of you along for the ride. :D

Open up one of the picture threads on your phone while getting an infusion. When someone asks why you're looking at porn during treatment, say 'Hey, I thought I was here to strengthen my bone.' 😏 🤣

I do want to keep laughing, so jokes are green lit in this thread. That's why CT gets a WOO.

I'm sure I can give you a hand with that and massage out a few more jokes. Sadly, I can't seem to get my creativity to rise on command, and instead I have to rely on my creative juices to erupt at random and lube up my funny bone a bit, before another joke can ejaculate forth 😇

Last few days have been spent getting my body scanned from every angle. Last Friday I drove to a far off suburb for three MRI scans. I thought maybe there would be at least a potty break between scans. Nope! Lady said the scans might not line up right so it was do all three back to back to back.

I was placed on the MRI bed and handed ear plugs. The tech then placed pads over my ears to further dampen the sound. Procedure was to last about three hours! Face cage placed over me and before I could say Hannibal Lecter, into the maw of the MRI machine I went. I heard the first few bangs, whistles and clangs of the scan then I remember nothing. Yes, Bob fell asleep during a noisy MRI session. I woke up just before the end and I heard the tech say about five or ten more minutes. Before long the machine spit me out. Now it was wait for a doctor to read the images.

That was my Friday. Monday I reported to the VA for a PET scan. That shows where spots of cancer are in my body. It's only about 15 or 20 minutes for the scan, but before that I get injected with something called contrast plus drink a container of barium. Then I sit for an hour before they do the scan. Again wait for the results.

Late Monday afternoon my Oncology Nurse called me. She sounded excited and happy. Said there were no new cancer spots on my bones and some areas had gotten smaller. The treatment we started several weeks ago was working. Not sure what that really means, but I'm hoping maybe I've picked up some more time.

Other news was the problem I've been having with my leg is more likely caused by herniated discs in my spine and not the cancer as they thought. So now it's on to Neuro surgery for their opinion.

To be continued as my medical appointments keep piling up. :D

WOO for the oncologist nurse calling to say that some of those spots on your bones have shrunken and no new spots are seen.  8) 8)

Another full day at the VA for m today. Started thy morning with a nice young lady in the physical therapy pain clinic. It was a first visit so mostly background information. She showed me a few exercises to do at home. Also ordered me a better walker. Four wheels and a seat to sit on if I get tired. Even a small zipper bag to carry this and that. Really styling now! :D  Was able to pick it up right after our appointment. Still has that new walker smell. 8)

I've had lunch and am waiting for an appointment with with my Oncology Nurse. She'd phoned a couple weeks ago to let me know they'd seen some improvement in the bone cancer spots including no new spots. That's since I started some new medication following my chemo.

I'm anxious to see if that changes my prognosis. Last June the Doc said a year maybe a bit more. Be nice to stretch that out a few more months.

What a shame it would be if you felt like your pain continued to be an issue and you consequently needed more one-on-one physical therapy with the nice young lady 😏
