Looks like things are starting to move faster for me. Radiation Oncology has me coming in on Jan. 25th to start planning radiation treatment on the cancer in my pelvic area. It's caused occasional pain that goes all the way down my leg. Woke me up last night after only a couple hours sleep. Was up for two hours until pain eased enough to get back to sleep.
Friday I see the Oncologist who does Chemo therapy. Now that my bone biopsy last week has shown the cancer did start in the prostrate, he'll know what course of treatment to recommend.
Also have a meeting set with the Palliative Care people. They're the people who will help me manage pain and side effects of treatment and ease my final days.
Just so you're all clear on this. Treatment will not cure me. I'm stage 4 incurable. Cancer has spread to several places around my old body. Treatment may give me a couple more years.
Best news today was one of the counselors I talked with did some extensive string pulling. I now do not have any co-pays. Being able to afford any treatment was a major factor. It was costing me $50.00 each time I went to a specialty clinic. Prescription co-pays haven't been to bad, but no doubt there will be a lot more pills in my future.
What helps me most is the support I'm getting from friends, both here on KB, and in real life. Don't worry... I'll be on here perving as long as possible.
