I think anyone has a right to listen to whatever type of music they want from any year. Why give a person such a hard time just because they like a certain type of music? Just because YOU don't like it, doesn't mean they have to hate it! Do you guys really have to shit on people just because they like a certain type of music style?

Not at all! I didn't say "2013 music sucks!" I just said that every year has good music.

Clown is a music fan, and I like his taste. I've given him woos before for good posts, but I wanted to state my position on dismissing an entire generation's music taste as "sucky."

Please don't take that post the wrong way, I want everyone here to feel free to post whatever. Sorry if it came across as rude, I didn't mean it to be.

Hair metal is... sometimes good.

I'm often a bit disappointed in the music itself, and the vocals just aren't my thing at all. Some of it has much better music (Iron Maiden, Anthrax, others), so I still listen to it from time to time (Judas Priest, everything before Hellbent for Leather)

Alright, most of what you listed is FAR from hair metal. Hair metal is FAR from metal. I get it, fuck, I grew up in the 80's, I rocked the long hair. For ripping on poison earlier, One of the best bands in concert back in the day. Tesla, hell I'll throw Bon Jovi in the mix. He rocked it back then.

Now, as for all the bitching and stuff due to my original post. IT WAS A JOKE!

Now I will add, as I have before and Fish pointed out again with his post, if you can't find good music in each year, you are a little closed IMHO. I love the 80's probably more than clown, but I love the 90's and the 2000's and right up till now. I'll be as close to the stage moshing with the teens and 20 somethings at warped tour before moving over to the Big Chocolate set to listen to some great mixing. I love music, ALL MUSIC, from ALL time frames.

Take this rant however you want. I have no hard feelings towards anyone for the type of music they listen to, I only like to point out that once you start feeling that there is nothing better and that other things suck, you have closed yourself to anything new...

I'll admit, I know little about the difference between hair metal, power metal, etc.

I had just assumed anything where the band all had perms was hair metal. No biggie, sorry if I offended any power metal fans.

With that, Eric-  :emot_ntworthy:

IF you have listened to my other music postings you know I like the lyrical ballads, romantic, fantastical. If it flirts with celtic music, mythology, romantic fantasy, I'm there.

So here is a small sample of a new singer I found, Leanna Sidhe. An amusing conceit for a singer to assume this name.

Here is the Wikipedia description of Leanna Sidhe.
Quote
In Celtic folklore, the Irish: leannán sí "Barrow-Lover" (Scottish Gaelic: leannan sìth; Manx: lhiannan shee; [lʲan̴̪-an ˈʃiː]) is a beautiful woman of the Aos Sí (people of the barrow or the fairy folk) who takes a human lover. Lovers of the leannán sídhe are said to live brief, though highly inspired, lives. The name comes from the Gaelic words for a sweetheart, lover, or concubine and the term for a barrow or fairy-mound.

The leanan sídhe is generally depicted as a beautiful muse, who offers inspiration to an artist in exchange for their love and devotion; however, this frequently results in madness for the artist, as well as premature death. W. B. Yeats popularized a slightly different perspective on these spirits with emphasis on their vampiric tendencies:

The Leanhaun Shee (fairy mistress) seeks the love of mortals. If they refuse, she must be their slave; if they consent, they are hers, and can only escape by finding another to take their place. The fairy lives on their life, and they waste away. Death is no escape from her. She is the Gaelic muse, for she gives inspiration to those she persecutes. The Gaelic poets die young, for she is restless, and will not let them remain long on earth—this malignant phantom.

From the album Fragile Dreams by Leanna Sidhe

Ahh....Celtic music. It can be so depressing, reflective and joyous all at the same time.

Looks like there's only one thing that can be done to avoid madness and premature death of the artist. Fairy mistress must not seek love of mortals. Which means, she must not seek love of the artist. Isn't is tragic?

Actually just stumbled upon this by accident. Mesmerizing.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2Le-4eLZx4
Ran it ten times before I started getting at all tired of it. Then I turned up the volume and discovered there was a song, too! Who knew?! :emot_laughing:

The song is very good (I wouldn't have posted it here if it wasn't). Never heard of the band, but it's good enough to make me check out their other stuff. The video is pretty darn amazing for being done in one long, unbroken take. She is a very talented dancer.  Inspirational. There may be something for "Stories by Members" in this.

but when I'm bad, I'm oh, so bad... alistair.blankley@myscreenandfap.com

Thanks for the floyd. Got me in the mood to listen. Heard this on the Floyd channel. I always like Demo versions of songs, a different take on what they ended up putting out there.

Finally saw "Rock of Ages." I'm now re-addicted to Foreigner and Def Leppard. My iPod is burning hot today.
