Well, it's happened, folks. ASSTR.org, and thus Kristen's Archive, has disappeared.

Actually, I hope it hasn't. But current evidence puts the supposed shutdown at somewhere between 2 days and a week ago (last Wayback Machine snapshot was March 10, and had been a weekly thing prior).

It's a shame, really. It served as my entry into erotic writing, as well as many others'.

Extinguishing the Flame is available on Amazon and supports Australian Bush fire relief.

I had read stories on the 16th, I believe. It was def. gone the next morning on Wednesday when I tried to use the link in my history to get back to one particular story.

I spent mucho time there for seemingly forever and  I will surely miss it.

Sorry folks I don't understand? What has happened to Kristen archives? Why has it just gone? Has it been hacked? Has it been shut down by government?

asstr.org (that hosts KA) has been static since 2015, but someone continued to pay the hosting fees.  So either that didn’t happen this time, or the server crashed.

KB is a separate stand alone entity.  We neither run nor control KA.

The big loss is the tens of thousands of erotic stories on asstr, which dates back to the early text newsgroups of the Internet.  asstr stands for alt.sex.stories.text.repository.

does anyone have any definative info on ASSTE ?? is totally gone or just maintainence ?? my fav story site for years, and just as I as about to try my hand at writing ! Hope it is not forever, butt they have been shutting down and censoring other sites !  anyone have any other sites like ASSTR ? maybe acessable thru TOR ??

It was a matter of time. Many find written storiers of a particular nature to be illegal too. In fact written words of certain subjects are illegal and call for jail time in some countries. That and cartoon porn depicting UA is also illegal in some countries. I find this to be ludicrously stupid and thus the power we give others over our lives

Just a little info. Asstr.org is still running (at least for now), but there seems to a problem with the DNS.
There is a dirty workaround, at least on a PC (windows, linux, mac) by manually editing the hostfile.

The host file edit works and I see uploads to the site even today.  What could cause a DNS problem?

As previously mentioned, it looks like whoever was paying for the hosting of the site has stopped.

Hi,

does this still work? When I connect to the IP via http I get "301 Moved Permanently".
Can it not be accessed via http anymore?

Does anyone know how to actually do a real backup of asstr websites.
I ask because what is accessible via FTP is nowhere near complete. For example if you go in the /~Kristen/ folder it's empty but when going there via http, you of course get a giant site with thousands of stories that are hidden from FTP.
Is there any way to retrieve sites like Kristen without an http spider?

I spent a couple of hours on the Wayback Time Machine today, pulling my asstr.org stories up and moving them here.  Now, I’ll just have to find time to put all the paragraph breaks back in.
