Who's Bob Seger?
Wait, is he the guy from Full House?
I went to bed shortly after posting this and apparently my subconscious had a busy night. When I woke up, here's what had been dredged up from the deep recesses of my memory. (No internet searches involved.)
The
Full House guy was Bob Saget, may he rest in peace.
Bob Seger is a Michigan born musician who made quite a name for himself. The only song of his I can recall is
Like A Rock (which may or may not have been the actual song title).
It was a hit on the charts, and then became even more well known after the chorus was co-opted into TV commercials for Chevy trucks. He probably made more money from that one song than I've made in my entire life.
You have to understand, I stopped listening to music sometime in the mid 1970s (as in the last century), so any musicians that came along after that I only know from media references. I know a few names (Bieber, Mars, Perry, Swift) but I couldn't identify most of them from a picture (Taylor Swift is one I would recognize). And I certainly couldn't name any of the songs that they made popular, not even Taylor Swift's.
I own exactly one music CD (Dave Matthews, whoever he is) which I received as a gift. The jewel case is still shrink-wrapped in plastic. What music I do have and occasionally listen to are in the form of mp3 and date back to before the mid 70s. On the rare occasions I turn the car radio on, it's tuned to an oldies station.
I do have several hundred vinyl record albums (now stored in the garage), most of which have been converted to mp3, and again, all date back to the 50s and 60s. Bottom line is, if you want to stump me with musical questions, you'll find it very easy to do.
To keep this post on-topic my woo goes to Hilda, for jumping from MJ's #233 to (now) 241 woos in a single day (and for the Spike Milligan limerick).
