I don't understand why people think Elvis was the 'king,' he was utterly one dimensional, had trouble with anything but simple lyrics, was fat, a sad human being towards the end of his life and left no discernible musical legacy other than a nasal whine.

Had you been there at the beginning you may understand - he wasn't always fat, he wasn't always one dimensional, just like most who have the term "greatness" thrust upon them in their life time he began to believe it without looking in the mirror. He was pure entertainment at first but became an obese replica of his own ego.

In his young incarnation he was so different and on the edge with his sensuality that he changed the way we were allowed to see our entertainers.
