Yep, nothing deters people more than a dogs bark.  I've seen commercials from security companies that try to say that dogs don't work, but they are just trying to get business.

Look at her on high alert protecting her dad from looters this morning.

Dr. Peter Venkman: This city is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Mayor: What do you mean, “biblical”?
Dr Ray Stantz: What he means is Old Testament, Mr. Mayor, real wrath-of-God type stuff.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Exactly.
Dr Ray Stantz: Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling.
Dr. Egon Spengler: Forty years of darkness. Earthquakes, volcanoes…
Winston Zeddemore: The dead rising from the grave.
Dr. Peter Venkman: Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together – mass hysteria.

The title of this thread is suddenly outdated. The strife in Minneapolis has spread like wildfire across the country and in some foreign countries.

Twenty states have called up their National Guards as looting and burning express the outrage and frustration of generations of racial inequity.

Buckle up my friends. I fear a long hard fight ahead.

Thank you for finding the quote, MissBarbara. Actually, I was surprised to see the Third Degree Murder charge, and read further to find the lack of evidence that the Officer placing his knee on the suspect was found as a cause of death.

The suspect had underlying health conditions which, as you said, along with the self induced intoxicants in his system, and the stress anyone would feel, having been caught in a crime, pulled from his vehicle while resisting, and being held immobile, for the protection of the public and the Officers while they awaited Transport of the suspect, all are a factor to be noted.

Go back and read that again. The coroner's report did NOT say that he had intoxicants in his system, it referred to "any potential intoxicants in his system."

Even if that police officer didn't asphyxiate or strangle George Floyd, and even if Floyd was intoxicated, the coroner's report still indicated that the police officer still killed him.

As the video makes clear, Floyd was in handcuffs and lying on the ground. Is it really your assertion that the police officer needed to kill him in order to protect the public?

Joan likes to refer to George Floyd's resisting arrest. When police first responded to the call about someone trying to pass a fake $20.00 bill, Floyd was spotted sitting in a car near the store.

When asked, he got out of the car and allowed himself to be handcuffed behind his back. There's video showing him being led, unresisting to the side of a building.

Now another pair of officers arrive and when they try to place him in a squad car he says he's claustrophobic and falls to the ground. His "resistance" was failing to get up and at 200 pounds police were unable to get him up.

Their decision...if he won't get up, we'll pin him down!

Things devolved on our block last night. Four cars started probing the neighborhood. Many residents were still out watching the street. One block over homeowners there mobbed one of the cars. Someone in the car fired one shot. Nobody hit.

Following that several on our block came out with rifles and shotguns. We went from being on the alert to an armed camp.

When police were called after the gunshot, there was no response. Now neighbors see no other recourse but to fight back.

Please stay safe.  You don’t need to be in the street with a weapon.  Nothing good ever comes of that.  Even our President turned out the lights and hid in the basement last night.

The last week has seen the release of a huge amount of documentary evidence of the poor decision making skills many American police are equipped with. What's incredible to me isn't so much that there are dipshits that make dumbass decisions, especially in high tension situations, but how others will follow their lead without question. Even the more basic choice to menace peaceful protests with scores of armoured police armed with batons and other weapons is a massive failure of managing public perception to me, never mind the frivolous arrests and unnecessary violence.

Following the “war on drugs“ in the 1980s, a large quantity of military surplus was dumped on law enforcement, following the first Gulf War. If you hand a bunch of idiots armored vehicles, and automatic weapons, guess what happens? They go from being peacekeepers to being troublemakers. This military style hardware, has largely driven a wedge between America’s law enforcement and minority communities. I’ve spent a lot of time in England, and the Bobbies on the beat are very approachable, “friends in the community,“ and not feared with suspicion by anyone. They do an incredibly effective job, without pulling a weapon, or putting their knees any on anyone’s necks.

I’ve read this week, that Portland has radically changed its training, to more or less prohibit the use of weapons, unless fired upon first. And they have gone more than a year now without a police shooting. When protests broke out in Portland, the chief of police went downtown, unarmed, and met with protesters.  He kneeled, and asked for their forgiveness. No one has died in Portland. We need to examine our attitudes and our practices.

We have 400 years of racial tension, and a majority of the white majority is still inable to recognize that we have a serious problem on our hands. Just look at the way they went apeshit crazy over Collin Kaepernick taking a knee during Sunday NFL games.  That is the source of the frustration 40% of our population feels.

Cops will not help you. We've established this. And that's what the terrorists are counting on. Defend yourselves, your neighbors, your family and your property from them. They're all just a bunch of entitled cowards who believe they can do whatever they want and get away with it. Problem is, the cops and government have proved them correct.

What's incredible to me is that these dipshits who made those dumbass decisions did so while fully aware of the fact that they were being filmed, both by the spectator standing there and by their own body cameras. The officer who killed George Floyd will be convicted by that very evidence.

Good to hear your neighborhood is acting responsibly, exercising 2nd Amendment Rights, to keep the scum at bay, and protect life/property.

More fuel for the flames.  So many state and local officials have made statements about this horrible incident. Absent from all these voices is the Minneapolis Police Federation, the cops union.  It is a very strong union with a team of attorneys at their beck and call.

This is a big reason why many police officers who have complaints filed against them get off.  Derek Chauvin, the ex-officer accused of murder has over 15 complaints in his 19 year history on the department. No action taken on any of them.

Now this has appeared on Twitter from a Minneapolis reporter. If it is true, you can see the problems faced by so many mayors and police chiefs of our city. All have promised changes in the department and all have be thwarted by the union.

Statement from Bob Kroll, head of the police union:

A private autopsy requested by George Floyd's family flies in the face of the official autopsy from the county medical examiner.

The new autopsy states that Floyd died from being asphyxiated.

Dr. Allecia Wilson, director of autopsy and forensic sciences at the University of Michigan and one of two examiners on behalf of the family, said, "The evidence is consistent with mechanical asphyxia as the cause of death and homicide as the manner of death."

Whether this will be allowed in the upcoming trial is unknown.

The ex cop won't make his first court appearance until next Monday. For security reasons he's being held in the state's maximum security prison, rather that the county jail.

A side note: Chauvin's wife has announce she's filed for divorce and has been sickened by the death of George Floyd.

Being unarmed, when car loads of scum are armed, is not a balanced plan.
Knowing your neighbors have the means to stop evil doers is a comfort.

No joy here. Defending your home from the Democrat Terrorists is job #1.

This highlights another problem with this country, you cant have an opinion without being called a racist, nazi, or terrorist.

What?  Your opinion is different than mine???  You're the most evil mother fucked on this planet.

CJ found out what all those sirens in the distance were about. Terrorists looted a store and assaulted businesses.

For once, I think the cops put a quick stop to it.

Hopefully things are quieting down. Large protests continue, but are peaceful. Yesterday several law enforcement officers took a knee, along with the group of protesters. I saw video of police and protesters hugging, and fist bumping.

Our neighborhood continues to meet each evening and review our protection measures. We've always been a close neighborhood, and now we're even closer.

I did wake to find my front sidewalk had been marked up.
Two large hearts are drawn in chalk. Hope they last awhile. :D
