Stupid is as stupid does

Elisabeth Hasselbeck apparently thinks women who come out as lesbians later in life only do so because they couldn’t find a man.

During a discussion on the subject of late-blooming lesbians on Tuesday’s show, ‘The View‘ co-host said that: “Older men are going with younger women, leaving the women with no one.”

Joy Behar immediately jumped on the argument saying, “So that’s why they’re suddenly sleeping with women? That’s ridiculous, I’m sorry.”

Elisabeth and Joy Spar Over ‘Scum’

After the customary five seconds of incomprehensible crosstalk, Behar explained as calmly as she could that “being gay, being a lesbian, is not just holding hands and walking through the tulips. There are things that people do, sexually…I don’t think you suddenly wake up and say, ‘You know, I wanna do that.’”

But Hasselbeck argued that at a certain age a relationship could be more about companionship than anything sexual. (Bad news for her husband Tim?)

The New York Daily News reminds us that Hasselbeck is the same person who once argued that the morning-after pill should be banned even in cases of rape and incest, and also slammed ESPN’s Erin Andrews’ skimpy outfits on ‘Dancing with the Stars‘ as inappropriate, after Andrews was the victim of stalking (although she allegedly apologized for the latter).

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.

Wasn't Elizabeth the one who was spot on as to whether Blacks or women were first allowed to vote in the US?

Look at the premise.
Older women.

I suppose we could argue if a woman that has been with a man is a "Bisexual" as opposed to a "Lesbian" but that strikes me as pedantic.

Are you seriously doubting that women who have often had passions for women do not try them later in life?

I have chatted to a few females over the years.
For what it is worth, they tend to be those who explore girl girl at a young age, have a college fling(s), or explore that with their husband/BF.

If the intent that women without a male partner suddenly become lesbian, then I will concede that it is ridiculous.

But if the premise is that women with an interest who are suddenly without a male and are at a stage in their life where there is more time to act on those passions, then I am afraid I agree.  I have spoken to a few that have expressed that desire,  Yes, I know that is completely ancedotal.

Is the comment about the morning after pill to be some cheap shot?
I take it anyone who advocates against this pill is a cave dwelling, non-compassionate person.  One clearly not worthy of any notice.

Like the woman who could not believe Richard Nixon had been elected President because NO ONE she knew would vote for him, I suggest the Daily News open their eyes.

I think she makes a valid point as does Gary.  I believe she's very correct in that companionship becomes more important than the sexual aspect of relationships later in life.  At some point, the latter makes little difference without a more significant value in the former.

I agree with Melissa, and gia, i forgot you're not into blondes. :) And i'm guessing not older, sexy, busty blondes who fit a lot of guys [and gals] mom fantasies. <3
