I think your governor finally conceded that they rushed opening up things, probably from pressure byTrump.  But I agree with you about not being able to do things we have been doing for ages. Birthday parties, weddings, even funerals.

Emancipate yourself from mental slavery, none but ourselves can free our minds.

I don't think Texas ever shut down, or at least not to the degree other states did.

Our idiot Lieutenant Governor today actually said, “Dr. Fauci doesn’t know what he’s talking about.”  This is the imbecilic depth to which the GOP has sunk.  Killing people in real time now.  And looking the other way, while Putin pays bounties to kill our sons.

And by the way, schools didn't open completely in Germany. Only elementary schools were opened regulary during June. On higher schools there was/is a rotation schedule, so not all students go to school on the same day. The main focus lies on students who will graduate this year.
And now there issummer break in most parts of Germany, so schools are closed anyway.
The expection is to open all schools regulary after the end of summer break.

I'm not okay, you're not okay. But hey, that's okay

The graphic lists cases reported 'yesterday' by some Country reports, and the following are the same, with Population of each.

Germany          298 cases           82.91 Million Population

Denmark            10 cases             5.78 Million Population

Norway              11 cases             5.42 Million Population

UnitedStates  55,442 cases         331.00 Million Population

As anyone may note, the population difference between those
countries displayed has a large influence on how the absolute case count attributed to each on a given day may be perceived.

* Post count are taken from mostly 2018 census counts, and in case of
U.S., taken from www.worldometer, 2020 count including territories.

Break it down per state then

Wisconsin population 5.8 million. 739 confirmed cases

One state (my state )  vs entire damn countries.  Our Democrat governor tried and tried again to keep things under control but the GOP lawyers made sure that he couldnt do it.

Pesky things like Liberty, Freedom, the U.S. Constitution, tend to get in the way of totalitarianism, socialism, and fascism by State actors against the people.

The "GOP Lawyers" you note were the Wisconsin Supreme Court, ruling against the Governor on multiple attempted unconstitutional orders attempted.

He wasn't denying anybodies freedoms, or liberties, just trying to keep the citizens of his state safe.

And who brought it to the wisconsin supreme court?

Fine I'll concede to your point, even though he wasn't trying to pass anything into law, or make permanent changes to the state, just a temporary closing to businesses to keep people safe, but perhaps if we had better leadership in the White House that didn't call every challenge a lie, fake, or a hoax, and actually took something serious other than it's (yes I am referring to trump as an it, because it sure as hell isn't a man) own reputation. Things may not have gotten out of hand like they did.  A single states covid-19 cases wouldn't be toppling the numbers of those of entire countries.

Had your Governor issued Constitutional Orders, the Wisconsin Supreme Court decision may have gone his way... had his orders been lawful...

What does that tell you, that he did not attempt to issue lawful orders, rather chose to fight for his dictates all the way to the Wisconsin Supreme Court and seems to still be defending his particular dictate orders, rather than find the legal way to accomplish whatever actual 'goal' was desired...

Corona pandemic has shown how some politicians handle power, and how some mishandle power... and for future reference, who can be trusted to do the right things... regardless of Media and opposition critiques...

I'm always shocked when folks like Joan equate acting like responsible adults to totalitarianism, etc.  This obsession with individualism (that is confused with freedom) and the misinterpretation of constitutional freedom collide into a germy mess.

Enjoy your Covid-19 Joan.

Tell it to the Wisconsin State Supreme Court, Lois! The dictates of the Wisconsin Governor were found to be "wanting" of legality, rules against.

What are you talking about with this dictates stuff?  He tried to extend the state of emergency and stay safer at home order.  What is this dictates dictates dictates you're on about.  He wasnt dictating anything.  He called for it, it was denied.  He sought out approval for it, and it again was denied.

Trump has been tweeting this morning that the entire C-19 pandemic is a hoax, put on by the Democrats to thwart a second term.  He said Dr Fauci and the CDC are part of the conspiracy.  Arghhhhhhh!

Technically, Trump re-tweeted this tweet:

The fact that Trump re-tweeted it can be assumed as tacit endorsement.

Today a development was reported that is truely alarming: https://news.yahoo.com/hospitals-told-send-coronavirus-data-064649924.html

In short, hospitals are no longer to report positive tests, hospitalizations or deaths to the CDC, but directly to the Trump Administration via the Dept of Health and Human Services.

Why is this alarming?  Because the CDC must publish its findings pursuant to its charter and the law; the department of Health and Human Services does not.

I believe this is being done to hide the scope of the pandamic from the American people.  That way Trump can boast theat the virus has just "disapeared" and it will be harder to prove the lie.
