The new American heroes are those people we've taken for granted for far too long. Even before the current crisis, they've been there for us.  We just accepted it and went about our daily lives.

When the panic buying first started, I was in a local supermarket. The clerk looked frazzled, yet was being polite and do her job under the added pressure. I said something to her about how great it was she and the rest of the staff were there for us.  She paused, a smile broke over her face and she thanked me.  Just a few simple words of gratitude made her day.

The supermarket I frequent just announced a death of an employee due to COVID-19.  Today I found out he was one of the baggers.  A very nice guy that always had a kind word.

There were 3 other deaths at local Kroger stores.

This will hit all of us close to home before it's over. Sorry you lost someone you know. These people are so brave.  Wife's son works at a drug store and a gas station, so we're worried about him.

Well trained and been made compliant....by my cat Neville

I liked the meme, because it had both a Tommy Boy and a SNL reference.  God Bless Chris Farley.  We need his humor these days...

The IRS is setting up a tool that will allow you to check on the status of your stimulus payment. More information about the payments are in an article published on Buzzfeed.

In Illinois, our Governor said today that the C-19 curve is beginning to flatten, that the doubling rate of people coming down with the virus is now up to ten days whereas it was at every two or three days. The light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter.

I feel so bad for all those billion dollar corporations who are only getting billions in stimulus and not trillions while all the little people they laid off get a one time payout of about a thousand dollars, if they're lucky.

In just three weeks, over 16.5 million Americans filed for unemployment benefits, and Thursday’s report is expected to show another 5.462 million jobless claims for the week ended April 11.

In today's newspaper...

COVID-19 stay-at-home order could lead to costly issues
Drive around the block weekly

Though you may not be getting out during the stay-at-home order, you shouldn’t leave your vehicle sitting for extended periods of time.

According to a mechanic, letting your car sit idle can lead to costly problems.

For instance, if your tires sit on the same place for too long, they can start to flatten in spots. Additionally, animals may make a vehicle that is not moving their home. Also, if you don’t have a full tank of gas, condensation can form as temperatures outside fluctuate, leading to water in the tank.

She deserves the protests.   Not in this manner though.   Many without masks.  Many grouped very close together and high-fiving.  The organizers wanted a traffic jam.   Everybody was getting out of their cars that were log jammed in the streets.

A bunch of states have done it.  Michigan is getting the press because of the governor, who, I disagreed with Joan about wanting to be VP.   I agree with her now.   Her last 2 press conferences I can see her jockeying for position.

It wasn’t a protest so much as an orchestrated Trump rally. Maybe we should just let Social Darwinism take its toll.

Folks want to open up the economy.  I get it, I want things back to normal, too.

But the issue here is more than letting nature run its course, it's about overwelmed hospitals and a disproportionate number of healthcare professionals getting sick and dying because of repeated exposure, lack of PPE, and not having time to rest because of staff shortages.

And if people need hospital care for other issues during this time they will suffer.

Those who have ears to listen have heard the message, and understand fully. This is a case of uncontrolled confirmation bias. The people who drank the Trump Kool-Aid so desperately want to believe anything they are told, they will even put their own health at risk. They will throw their grandparents under the bus. They will watch tens of thousands more die, if Das Führer tells them to.

Little nitpick: it's "Der Führer" :hitler:
or God Emperor or Chosen One,
for he is the Kwisatz Haderach

I'm not okay, you're not okay. But hey, that's okay

I expect Governor Whitman has cooked her own goose, in the excessive and fascist response, unnecessarily so in my and many other's opinions, such as putting "Police Line - Do Not Cross" tape over the Burpee Seeds display at the local ACE Hardware store.

Micromanagement of individual behavior invites serious push back, and realization of incompetence, how Government directly affects what should be common sense, for a competent leader.

Only a fool would choose Governor Whitman to be on the Democrat Ticket, or even infer her suitability to be part of any Democrat Cabinet/Administration.

She was placed on the track, by someone... not just anybody gets to do the Democrat Response at SOTU Speech, and then "shat the bed" acting in her own supposed leadership role with Michigan Citizens. And defends her decisions still... needs to just "stop digging"...

"Who" put her name up for SOTU Response, and WHO thought she would be a great choice for Veep, is keeping her/his head down, no attribution so far, more like a "that's not my handwriting" response... that will come in the "Loss Assessment", after every illegal Democrat vote has been "found", and "found again", and when the FINAL 2020 Electoral College votes have been cast, (except the overseas Military Ballots, if Biden is close...)

That is why our president is in a rush to get people back to work - with job numbers like that, he has no chance for a second term.

I am afraid those number will only get worse because many governors now are talking about middle May before even thinking of having some businesses reopen.
