The new American heroes are those people we've taken for granted for far too long. Even before the current crisis, they've been there for us. We just accepted it and went about our daily lives.
When the panic buying first started, I was in a local supermarket. The clerk looked frazzled, yet was being polite and do her job under the added pressure. I said something to her about how great it was she and the rest of the staff were there for us. She paused, a smile broke over her face and she thanked me. Just a few simple words of gratitude made her day.
