This shit needs to end.

You could be living in California where they are seriously thinking of cancelling school until summer, if they haven't done it already.

The University of Texas School of Law just announced that all brick and mortar classes are canceled for the remainder of the spring semester. Instruction will be conducted via electronic broadcasting only.

It's the same at the university where I work.

And my technophobia certainly isn't helping...

A young lawyer wants to take a deposition tomorrow via teleconferencing. My experiences with this technology have not been good. Sound quality, visuals, everything suffers. In an ordinary meeting, it’s inconvenient, but in a lawsuit, it can be critical. If the witness did not understand the question and answers incorrectly. I also have a hearing loss, so I’m not looking forward to this at all. They are setting up a conference call in an hour to try to get me up to speed. We’ll see if this old dog can learn a new trick.

The virus devasted the auto industry in China and experts predict the same here in the United States. This can be the beginning, depending on how much surplus the auto industry has on hand.

The Dow is trading below 20,000.

19,333.67 −1,903.71 (8.96%)

All Trump era gains have been wiped out.  So much winning.

We've just been told schools are closing until further notice. Annual exams are cancelled.

I'm kind of relieved - we're down 1/3 staff, and nearly half the kids.

One of my students is a confirmed case; between him & his brothers I spent 13 hours in the same room last week.

I guess I forgot to mention wifey can't go to work because she's head chef at a fancy fuckin' restaurant and no one is eating fancy fuckin' food right now anyway despite the governors bullshit.

So we're both out of income right now. I am not asking my mom for money, even though she would do it without asking. My friend who manages a store said they've been trying to hire for a position for months and can't get anyone and they're, despite all this, understaffed because of the shit paper plague. CJ might have to take that job and leave the kids with wifey. Otherwise our savings will be gone just feeding the kids. She wants me to come in tomorrow to talk about it.

I don't fuckin' get it. Why are they WRECKING THE ECONOMY for something less deadly than the common cold? On top of this, our vacations to Canada and New York this Summer are cancelled as of now.  :emot_banghead:

Well here's hoping they get things set and they can start handing out those $1000 dollar checks soon.  I have a feeling that once this is all over we (the working class) are going to see one hell of a tax hike

This is one on a series being put out by MedCRAM.  I find them interresting because it summarizes the latest scientific knowledge and possible treatments re the COVID-19 virus.

Latest advice on schools is "maybe until September", and other measures might have to go on until a vaccine is ready - that's 12-18 months at least.

They closed schools here for another week, to March 27. Meanwhile, they will be getting online teaching started on Monday. What could possibly go wrong? I have to say the typical educator at my local school is completely inexperienced in technical matters. And my son routinely coaches them on how to grade homework assignments, pass out grades, and do the other things that are now required online. Most of them do not have a clue as to which end of the phone to pick up.
