Coronavirus is deadliest where Democrats live

https://apple.news/AlR6wBxg7Rei-deDTRl3ihw

While facts are facts, the accompanying text is rather silly. It's very slanted, instantly devolves into partisan finger-pointing, and, worst of all, makes no mention of the one, overriding factor that accounts for this sharp disparity: Poverty.

Democrats control all the major urban centers, and that is where the virus has been most prolific. Not too much going on in the great Red wasteland. Exceptions being in Texas, and Florida, and again, major urban centers. So it really has nothing to do with politics. That’s a ridiculous apples and oranges argument. Although all these GOP protesters going out without masks or social distancing may soon find themselves with a nasty dose.

Wisconsin saw a record number of new coronavirus cases and deaths yesterday, two weeks after the state’s Republican controlled Supreme Court struck down its stay-at-home order.

Trump is pressuring the Republican governors to open early so as to save his political hide. Wisconsin is an example of politics trumping science.

You know your state is in the crapper when trump commends it's actions.  Would be nice if health experts made the decisions during a pandemic instead of lawyers and politicians

CJ is ready to open the doors. I want to say "love ya, but I quit" to my friend who did graciously give me the chance to earn an income through this. But enough is enough. we literally had people knock on our door today to ask if we were open and I had to tell them "cleaning up, we'll be open soon."

Time to go back to normal. And normal includes CJ not putting shit paper on a shelf. Unless it's here at home.

I am happy for you Chirp. Hope you have a lot of area for outside dining. Many neighborhood dining establishments here don't and won't be able to open.

The wife and I ventured out to do some shopping for the first time in months (excluding the grocery store) and I was shocked to see how few people were wearing masks. All of  the employees were, but I estimate that only 1 in 4 shoppers had their nose and mouth covered.  :'(

Afterthought... maybe it's time to change this thread's title and drop 'The coming plague' part. It's been here for a while now.

This year is starting to remind me of some bad times during the 60s.

The daily body count is from Covid-19 instead of the Vietnam War. The economy is in the toilet because of unemployment instead of double digit inflation. Rioting in major cities is still connected to racial issues. At least we've been spared the political assassinations.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

50 years from now, the American History books in school will need a couple of chapters for 2020.

Coronavirus Live Updates: The Number of Cases Is Growing Faster Than Ever Worldwide

The geography of the illness is changing, and new infections top 100,000 a day. Israel’s Parliament shut down after a lawmaker contracted the virus. 1.9 million U.S. workers filed for unemployment benefits last week.

US deaths:  109,533

We past 2 million known infections in the U.S., with 112,597 deaths.  Before you do the math on lethality, it’s 531,808 that have recovered with 1,356,929 active infections.

Stocks took a big hit today on fears C-19 is making a comeback in states that have opened up and this will be an added drag on an already depressed economy.
