Large global study suggests hydroxychloroquine ineffective in COVID-19 patients

So, Trump's magic snake oil is probably not only ineffective against Covid-19, but even increases the risk of death and heart rhythm problems.
I wonder if he really takes the real stuff, or just lied about it or got placebos from his doctor.

I'm not okay, you're not okay. But hey, that's okay

The New York Times reports the president’s family trusts all have investments in a mutual fund whose largest holding is Sanofi, the manufacturer of Plaquenil, the brand-name version of hydroxychloroquine.

Many doctors suggest only giving that drug while in a hospital because it has a tendency to enlarge the arteries. A trial test was given to a group of veterans in a VA hospital and a surprising percentage died. Why many doctors advise against using the drug.

Anyway, with all the mistruths Trump throws at us, do you believe he is taking this drug?

The heat is here. This shit is over with. Even if you spit it on someones face, the Midwestern sun would kill it instantly if you just stick your face in the sun shine.

Four out of five doctors agree, intravenous Clorox and a flashlight up the ass, work better.

Here's the front page of today's New York Times:

The front page lists the names of 1,000 people who died of the Covid-19 virus. That's only 1% of the total.

Saw a tweet that someone sent that said, "even on Giligan's Island, the people believed the scientist over the millionaire".  ;D

As it stands now, the coronavirus has infected 1.6 million and taken so many lives it is as if an entire midsize American city — say Boca Raton, Fla., just to pick an example — simply disappeared. The toll is about to match the 100,000 killed in the United States by the pandemic of 1968 and is closing in on the outbreak of 1957-58, which killed 116,000. At this pace, it will stand as the country’s deadliest public health disaster since the great influenza of 1918-20 — all at the same time the nation confronts the most severe economic collapse since the Great Depression.

The historical comparisons are breathtaking. More Americans have died of the coronavirus in the last 12 weeks than died in the Vietnam and Korean Wars combined and nearly twice as many as died of battle wounds during World War I. The death toll has nearly matched the number of people killed by the initial blasts of the world’s first atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. In terms of American deaths, it is the equivalent of 22 Iraq wars, 33 Sept. 11 attacks, 41 Afghanistan wars, 42 Pearl Harbors or 25,000 Benghazis.

But most importantly, don't call it the China virus. That would be racist. We need to keep that in perspective. Make laws to prevent calling it that.

Also, apologize for and coddle them. Don't call it an act of global war and genocide. Blame Trump for everything.

Had a guest last night minimizing Covid as being just a "bad flu", and that more people die in car accidents every year (46,000).  Of course his stats were already way out-of-date when compared to Covid-19 as it's now overtaken Diabetes as as a leading cause of death.

Heart disease: 647,457
Cancer: 599,108
Accidents (unintentional injuries): 169,936
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 160,201
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 146,383
Alzheimer’s disease: 121,404
Diabetes: 83,564
Influenza and pneumonia: 55,672
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 50,633
Intentional self-harm (suicide): 47,173

Wow! Between dying from Covid-19 and dying from Alzheimer's, we senior citizens have a rough road ahead.

Chicago had the most violent Memorial day weekend since 2015. Not a peep from our mayor. But last week she fined several churches $500 each for holding on site worship services.  So many politicians are getting off on the power they have been given to tell people what they can and cannot do. Easy to pull rank on soft targets.
