Gina Marie might have a patent on this gif, but....
Bourbon is NOT a real whiskey.
Because it is a variant of the original whiskey, it is not a whiskey? If that's the case, then all craft beers are not real beer.
Scotch is whiskey made in Scotland.
Whisky is whisky made in Ireland.
Bourbon is whiskey made in the US, whose mash must contain at least 51% corn.
Canadian whisky must contain 51% rye.
Blended Scotch is a chimera of real whiskey.
You're mixing two (real) whiskey's to create a variant. So if you take (real) whiskey and a (real) whiskey and mix them together, it's no longer whiskey?
Either Irish or single malt Scotch is real whiskey.
We have a
single malt snob in our midst.
And if you pollute it with water, that also includes ice, you are simply a heathen who must be educated.
Agree for the most part.
A splash of water? Criminal!
A few droplets of water?
I'll allow it. It opens up the flavors. And you'll be hard pressed to find any expert tasters that do not put a few droplets in their glass. Scotch, Irish Whisky, or (the whiskey that you say is not
real whiskey) Bourbon.
If someone wants an 'on the rocks' poured at my house, they get bottom shelf bourbon, or 'bsb', I'll say to
Dan if he's pouring for someone, even his boss, which was the case during the holidays. Same for the person that wants to mix my Blanton's, Woodford Reserve or Booker's with coke. Nuh-uh, not in my house. That is a crime.
The only thing I have ever mixed with my bourbon....
Mint leaves
Superfine sugar
Selzer Water
Only on KY Derby Sunday will MintJulie drink a MintJulep.
