Blended whiskies are alcohol. They have lost the distinction of what they were. Jonny Walker, Haig, Dewars all sell blends, which have lost the distinction and taste quite different from the original Scotch.

In all blends you taste the alcohol and not the Scotch. The Irish presents a distinctly different experience, though the similarities with Single malt Scotch is there.
Bourbon tastes like alcohol with a teaspoon of sugar added.

If you want whiskey that is sweet, then go to Drambuie.

I take my whiskey like it was intended. Straight and with a claymore in my hand.

Questions? I do have answers.   ;D

On Memorial Day I bought an ice cube tray that makes those big ice cubes that don’t melt so fast and dilute your whiskey.  I used to always drink it neat, but I find I like it chilled when the weather is warm (just don’t like it diluted).  I’d put a bottle in the freezer like I do my Polish potato vodka, but putting whiskey in the freezer just somehow seems wrong?

Try a chilled glass.
I've tried whiskey stones.  Not impressed.
I've tried the large frozen ice balls.  Fine at the beginning, but after the first sip, the bourbon is diluted too much.

Dan's daughter makes her hot chocolate with water.  And oddly, it is not because she doesn't like milk, because she does.  She just does not like her hot chocolate made with it.

My niece tried it once (using water) and said, "I don't think I like hot chocolate anymore."

I drink maybe two bottles of whiskey a year.

As a rule of thumb, if it's a single malt, from a Scottish island I haven't heard of, I like it.

There are so many small Scottish distilleries, I have yet to have the same bottle twice, and that's just the supermarket price range (I limit cost to around £35/$44 a bottle). There's a shop near me sells whiskey by the dram, at up to £40 a pop!

Scotch is whiskey made in Scotland.
Whisky is whisky made in Ireland.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you, MJ.  It's the other way round

I am shocked to the core that pineapple on pizza is considered a food crime.

Peanut butter, however - a food crime all of its own!

Not sure where you are from, but I’ve always wondered why non-Americans find peanut butter to be abhorrent?  I suspect those they do never actually had any?  The same people will gobble Nutella with relish when it’s very similar?

I hear the Aussies prefer Vegemite, but I’ve never had it.

You almost got a boo there, sweetie.

None of the following are food crimes....

I used to put a spoon full of peanut butter on my Oreo's.  Put another Oreo on top of it to make it a type of sandwich and bite into the whole thing.   Yum.   Most recently a few months ago.   But I only had one.    Back in the day I would eat 10-15 of them in a sitting.

When I was 9, I used to take spoonfuls of peanut butter and marshmallow and mash them in my hands until they were the consistency of play-doh and eat them.   I don't remember it, but my daddy has pictures of it.

I used to put peanut butter on my hot dogs.   My early teen years.

Peanut Butter and banana sandwich?

Though I haven't had one in years.

Peanut butter grilled cheese with banana.  Mayo and butter.  The Elvis Presley memorial combo.

the Total Wine chain does more than carry wine. It carries spirits too.
In the Whiskey aisle they have a cabinet that is glasses and licked. They have one bottle of McCallan whiskey that goes for $2400. I want a shot of that.

I was going to put a picture up earlier, but got too busy.  I just googled it.  Look at that yumminess.  OH, I see one with jelly, too!
