Barefoot girls sitting on the hood of the car, drinking warm beer in soft summer rain... Songs that remind me of our KB girls.

TIL that Fastball’s “The Way” is based on the true story of Lela and Raymond Howard, an elderly couple from Salado, Texas, who drove to the annual Pioneer Day festival 10 miles away in Temple and didn't return. She had Alzheimer's disease and he was recovering from brain surgery.

I have loved this since it was released in 1998, and have listened to it a hundred times. Never knew the sad backstory.

Orgy - Stitches

If it stayed I'd never leave it
If that turned around
I'd grieve the special dirty things
That we used to talk about
I mean that loving you is strange
And adored by me throughout
Oh no it's you again

Took my wife to see them on a vacation. Best concert.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Dani California (even wrote a tribute story for it)

Black bandanna, sweet Louisiana
Robbing on a bank in the state of Indiana
She's a runner
Rebel, and a stunner
On her merry way saying baby, watcha gonna?
Looking down the barrel of a hot metal forty-five
Just another way to survive

This song reminds me of my wife when we were young, it will always have a special place in my heart.

Rob Zombie - Living Dead Girl

Rage in the cage
And piss upon the stage
There's only one sure way
To bring the giant down
Defunct the strings
Of cemetery things
With one flat foot
On the devil's wing

I found out I had my second daughter to this song. She was humming along, and popped off with "Oh, yeah, were pregnant again." I almost had a wreck.

I looked at you
You looked at me
I smiled at you
You smiled at me
And we’re on our way

(I Looked at You -- The Doors)

Nothing special about the lyrics, but every time I hear them I recall a real-life encounter, back in my college days.

Staring at people, or being stared at, is not cool. If you don’t break off eye contact with a stranger after, say, two seconds or three seconds, things get decidedly awkward. Either you apologize, or you throw caution to the winds and smile. And if the other person smiles back — well, things happen. :)

So true! It's less the quality of the lyrics, more what you were doing when you heard them, and with whom.

Against All  Odds. 😢

How can I just let you walk away?
Just let you leave without a trace
When I stand here taking every breath, with you, ooh
You're the only one who really knew me at all

How can you just walk away from me?
When all I can do is watch you leave
'Cos we've shared the laughter and the pain and even shared the tears
You're the only one who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now, oh there's just an empty space
And there's nothin' left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face

Ooh, take a look at me now, well there's just an empty space
And you coming back to me is against the odds
And that's what I've got to face

. . .

So take a look at me now, oh there's just an empty space

I didn't recognize those lyrics until I came to the "Take a look at me now," part and thought, "Phil Collins?"

To confirm my hunch, I went over to Wikipedia and discovered that it's the theme song from the movie of the same name. I haven't seen the movie, and didn't know it was a remake of a film-noir movie starring Robert Mitchum. By coincidence, I'm watching him in the remake of "The Big Sleep".

I'm learning a lot today. Many thanks!

I generally dislike Phil Collins and Genesis. But somehow this song evokes memories of every love lost and longed for. Haven’t we all had “the only one who really knew me at all”? I was driving home from court today, and it came up on the rotation. And I was feeling so emotional by the time I got back to the office. And isn’t that what a great song is about?

"What About Love" --- By the group Heart

I've been lonely
I've been waiting for you
I'm pretending and that's all I can do
The love I'm sending
Ain't making it through to your heart
You've been hiding, never letting it show
Always trying to keep it under control
You got it down and you're well
On the way to the top
But there's something that you forgot

What about love
Don't you want someone to care about you
What about love
Don't let it slip away
What about love
I only want to share it with you
You might need it someday

I can't tell you what you're feeling inside
I can't sell you what you don't want to buy
Something's missing and you got to
Look back on your life
You know something here just ain't right

What about love
Don't you want someone to care about you
What about love
Don't let it slip away
What about love
I only want to share it with you
What about love
Don't you want someone to care about you
What about love
Don't let it slip away
What about love
I only want to share it with you

You don't want to let it slip away, but Time always slips away. I'm no longer that teenage kid who danced to this song with an anonymous pretty girl in my arms.
From that girl who softly kissed my neck on that dance floor so long ago to my first girlfriend who was four years my senior, this song, a true classic from the 1980s, will easily bring me to tears.

Now Father's day is near, and like every year I have to make my decision whether I'm going to call him or not. I can't forget nor forgive him for assaulting my first girlfriend and terrifying her into breaking up with me. Thanks to him, I am forced to live my whole life never knowing what sex with that wonderful girl would have been like. I hope she's well. She's the reason why this song by Heart makes me feel like being a teen again.

My fantasies have many lights and shadows.

In honor of a wonderful, weird, scarred, scared, mature, childish, happy, bubbly depressed little, 18 and a few months old girl with blue hair, who watched Orion's Belt with her head on my chest.
She loves singing this song (and yeah, she's bi as fuck)
Here's to you gurl  :emot_cheerlead:

Bisexual Anthem
Song by Domo Wilson

This is called
The Bisexual Anthem
Bi pride stand up
I like girls, I like guys
I like to eat the pussy then again I like to ride
Yeah, I love kissin' on girls and then I put the dick inside
I'm bisexual, bitch, and I ain't got nothin' to hide
Yeah, these bitches hatin' on me 'cause I'm confident in me
Better not forget the B in LGBT
And y'all like to say we selfish, yeah, y'all say we like to cheat
But I don't date both at the same time, haters have a seat
I like girls, oh my gosh, big booty, big tits
I like guys too though, super sexy, big dick
And if you hatin' on me, ho, then I'm down, big shit
And if you curious I got you baby girl, quick fix
"How the fuck you date a guy when you're bi
You're a fake ass dyke I don't like you, I won't lie
You cannot date both, pick a side, pick a side
Do you like fuckin' girls or do you like fuckin guys?"
I like both, bi pride stand up
I like a girly little thing and my dude manned up
Walk into the strip club and then I throw my bands up
Then when he give me sloppy top he like to throw my hands up
If I wanna date a girl and we don't work out then it's cool
Sexuality is fluid, it's okay to date a dude
And if I date a fuckin' guy and we break up
It's okay to date a pretty girl, ain't no fake love
I met a cute little shorty way back in '08
I was really in denial I was like, "No, wait"
I met a dude up in high school, I was so confused
How the fuck do I like girls then I started likin' dudes
Then I realized, ain't no rules to this shit
Ain't a crime to like pussy, ain't a crime to like dick
Ain't a crime to be whoever, whenever, man, I'm sick
I'm a bi girl bitch, lil fly girl bitch
B-I to the S-E-X-U-A
It's a L if you hatin' on me, bitch, I slay
No I am not gay and no I am not straight
I'm the B in this bitch, bi pride all day
I like girls, I like guys
I like to eat the pussy then again I like to ride
Yeah, I love kissin' on girls and then I put the dick inside
I'm bisexual bitch and I ain't got nothin' to hide
Yeah, these bitches hatin' on me 'cause I'm confident in me
Better not forget the B in LGBT
And y'all like to say we selfish, yeah, y'all say we like to cheat
But I don't date both at the same time, haters have a seat (hell nah)
I like girls, oh my gosh, big booty, big tits
I like guys too though, super sexy, big dick
And if you hatin' on me, ho, then I'm down, big shit
And if you curious I got you baby girl, quick fix
Yeah, I'm bi, I'm bi
And I like 'em both, I got pride
Yeah, I'm bi, I'm bi
I'm the B in this, you know why (yeah)
Yeah, I'm bi, I'm bi
I'm the B in this, you know why (yeah)

So I’m talking to a younger lawyer today, that I have a case with. And she said that she wanted to mediate the case. And I told her that’s great, “When would you like to do it?”

“September 21 is available.”

Me, “Do you remember?”

“Remember what?”

Me, “The 21st night of September?”

“That’s what we’re talking about.”

Me, “ Love was changin' the minds of pretenders.”

[blank stare]

Me, “Earth, Wind & Fire?”

[blank stare]

I’ve lived too long.  :emot_laughing: :emot_laughing: :emot_laughing:

I know the feeling only too well, of having to say, "That was from a hit song."

Best to keep all those lyric references to oneself. "Secrets, baby, I keep them to myself."

And Harry doesn't mind, if he doesn't, make the scene
He's got a daytime job, he's doing alright
He can play the Honky Tonk like anything
Savin' it up, for Friday night
With the Sultans
We're the Sultans of Swing

Nice one!

There's a TV documentary somewhere that attempts to track down the pub into which Mark Knopfler stepped to get out of the rain.

The indefatigable sleuth did find a pub that fit almost all the clues in the song, but it's been boarded up for ages.

A copy of the old movie Deadlier than the Male (1967) popped up on the web today, and I decided to give it a try. Ten minutes in, I decided not to waste any more time.

However, the song that played over the opening credits did catch my attention — Deadlier than the Male sung by The Walker Brothers. I didn't need the credits to identify Scott Walker's oh-so-masculine baritone. :)

He sings the refrain "The female of the species is deadlier than the male", which may be appropriate for a movie about glamorous female assassins. Unfortunately the line is almost impossible to fit to music. No natural breaks and it doesn’t scan smoothly.

Rudyard Kipling's original was "For the female of the species is more deadly than the male," which avoids the "deadlier than" hiccup in the song. Kipling usually had a tune in mind when he wrote his poetry, which is why his verses are so easy to read aloud.

Anyway, here's a fun fact. Two of Kipling's most famous quotations (the one above and "East is East, and West is West etc.") weren't written by him. They were his mother's inspired suggestions.
