If you want to see how the system failed its children athletes, this HBO documentary is a must see. Larry Nassar got what he deserved but the people at Michigan State University and USA Gymnastics, who covered up for Larry Nassar, basically got away scot free, one with a golden parachute.

Story repeated over and over through history.  The eye of attention sparks public outcry, followed by a demand that “somebody” be held accountable.  The perp is tried in the press, everyone wrings theirs hands, then moves on to the next story.  Very little study is made into how it happened in the first place, what institutional safeguards should be in place, and what procedural protections initiated to ensure it never happens again.  Two years probation, and everyone pretty much goes back to business as usual.  When it comes down to money, or our children’s safety, money is going to win every time.
