The OP is a climate change denier and we already have a thread on that topic.

I love the goals of this Green New Deal.  BTW, it is not legislation but a Resolution.  This means that the Congress will consider passing a document that outlines the direction of its goals, feasability studies, & investigations re this topic.  Nothing is set in stone.

May be a good idea, for anyone with an interest in our future, and anyone who wishes to see what 70 Nationally Elected Democrats have endorsed/signed-on with already, to print out a copy of what is being proposed, so that when it is altered or pulled down from view, for whatever reason(s), you will be best informed.

Destruction, clearing the sites of all existing buildings, Nationwide, and building anew, beginning with uprooting existing infrastructure (Gas, Water, Communications, Power, etc) so as to create each anew with 100% sustainable for the future, no fossil fuels, clean water for all, no matter where they may live in the United States, for a start, and elimination of all Air shipment and Air Travel, all motorized Shipping, replacement of all Rail transportation means and engines, and just a few more details, to be accomplished in the next 10 years... is on the table.

Employment for everyone, for those who want to work, and also for those who may decline such an offer, money for all as is desired...
Everyone benefits, all equally of course...

Paid for how, one might think to ask?

What a nonsense question! What difference at his point does it make, how the needed essentials for our future will be paid for? Taxes on the rich, of course, and then 'the printing of money, for the rest'. Of course, TY.

No biggie, if you will be unaffected by decisions and planning made now...

It will most likely be altered/updated, because it's a preliminary draft, and the situation is changing.  Climate CHANGE?  Says it right on the tin, so as the climate changes, politically, and ecologically, so should our response to it.

Incidentally, I proud of you for embracing this, irrespective of politics.  We need politicians involved, but pretty much all of them.  Not just the Democrats, it's a complete overhall of the system that's causing it.

A system that's too complex to cover, even in broad strokes, unless requested.  We're talking about a Government, a global habitat, AND a technological infrastructure, all at odds with each other.  The Resolution is to turn the Government around to support the Ecology at the expense of the Economy.  There's absolutely no net profit going against the economy that drove this pollution for centuries now.

I sure hope they pick my neighborhood to tear down along with lots of other blighted areas.  Boarded up houses and businesses aren't doing anyone any good.

So what utopia should we strive for?

The utopia where we all work with the only planet we know of where humans live to make things better for all?

Or the ‘utopia’ where all the wealth of the world is concentrated in the hands of a greedy few for whom short term profits supersede any and all long term sustainability?

If we strive for something regardless of how unattainable it seems now, I’ll vote for a Green New Deal.

Your vote is being 'counted upon' by those proposing utopia. Oops, should have said those behind The Green New Deal.

A planet we're not progressively destroying isn't proposing "Utopia."  That would be World Peace.  The word you're looking for is Sustainable.

The definition of Utopia doesn't mean lack of self-extinction.  That's just kind of assumed, that we Have a future to begin with.  I'm just guessing the people will still be assholes to each other.  If they have a place where they can be assholes.

Besides, the sooner we are independent of fossil fuels the better.  I'd rather not provide wealth to the Saudi's, as it's been proven they fund Daesh, al Qeda and the Taliban.

That's actually the plan, you know?  We have plenty of fuel reserves, even if they're getting more expensive to get at (Frakking)  So does Russia, Kazakhstan is floating on an inland sea of petroleum.

No, we don't need the Middle East's fossil fuels.  We're just fighting over the competition.  The third world is actually 3rd place for production, and use of it.

We're actually #2.

Hardly unbiased reporting.

The staff listed don't come from any credible sources.  I would think someone would have to try to come up with sources that shitty.

The Questions, Statements and Responses are genuine, regardless of the name or online history you can find by the presenters. Not everyone gets to understand some points at the beginning, and correcting first impressions is very important.

In this case, those being taught have their future dependent upon having their clear understanding of what is real, and what is B.S..

As Rep. Ozzie, D-PA, would say: B.S. Walks....

It is simply not trustworthy.  They pick who to interview, and even write the script. THey throuw out any reaction that does not fit their agenda.

Why don't you read the entire text of the proposal and quote below what you object to?  I looked through the text and did not see anything about tearing down neighborhoods as you said.

Lois, the attached is what AOC originally posted, then had scrubbed from her site, regarding the GND (Green New Deal), and I hope you will find what you are seeking by reading it closely.  Enjoy.
