The way it's going in Naples right now, Klopp might soon be on the list of potential replacements for Tuchel  :emot_laughing:

Edit: ...or considering Tuchel went to Mainz and Dortmund after Klopp, should I say Tuchel might soon be linked with a move to Liverpool?  ;D

Wow, I just realized something!  :emot_weird:

The new manager, "Graham Potter"

Look familiar??

"Graham Potter" is Roman Abramovich.

Boehly found a way to sneak in the old owner  :emot_laughing:

When I first read about Chelsea's new manager and saw his photo, I thought of the guy who starred in the tv series, House - Hugh Laurie.

Yes, I was just reading about his suggestions.  Has he noticed how long our season is?  Klopp gave him short shrift.

I watch a lot of American college football (soccer) and hear the announcers talk about how the college program is beginning to align with the way the game is being played worldwide.  This year, now when a match is tied at the end of regulation, the game is over, instead of playing overtime.  There are other changes also that deal with the play offs.

What Amercanization of English football has been occurring, besides Americans buying EPL clubs?  ;D ;D

Todd Boehly has come in for some criticism for proposing an all stars game and changing the automatic relegation system to a play-off series. What hasn't been widely reported, because our press always likes negative stories, is that his suggestions were based on filtering more money to the lower sections of the UK football pyramid.

The problems with his suggestions relate to our already crowded schedule plus, in the case of an all stars game, crowd control of fans from rival teams mixing in the same areas of a stadium. I suspect a certain amount of xenophobia as well.

Thanks, Obi. Hadn't heard of those proposals before.  I do agree, though, that the schedules are pretty well maxed out and adding any more matches will just be a strain on players and clubs.

It's not as bad as the European Super League suggestion, or wanting to have the World Cup every two years, but it still adds to the fixture congestion.

I've often wondered if it's time to scrap the League Cup, since it seems to be something like the FA Cup Lite (92 teams in the League Cup, over 700 in the FA Cup). But I've read that, because it's organized by the EFL rather than the FA, the League Cup helps to give the EFL a little bit more power to balance out that of the FA. The other thing is, it gives the smaller teams another opportunity to make some extra money by getting additional chances to play against teams from the tiers above.

Barbara, Princess of Tottenham, her team looked good against Leicester. Son getting that upper right hand corner goal from afar was one heck of a shot.

I was getting pretty nervous when Leicester equalized just before half time. Then Son came in, and scored a hat trick within 13 minutes.

Now Conte is going to bench him every second match, to keep his goal ratio up at 1.5 per game  :emot_laughing:

Who remembers Loris Karius? I was reading something about how that Champions League final against Real Madrid in 2018 basically destroyed him mentally, and I went to look up where he's playing these days and if he was even still involved with football.

Turns out, he signed for a new club a little over a week ago. Newcastle  ;D

Not a bad idea, really. It looks like Newcastle want to have someone other than Dubrovka be the long-term keeper for the next few years, and Pope seems to be the guy, but then there are Karius and Darlow to make for some competition for him. It gives Karius a chance to rehabilitate his career, and should he somehow find his way back to his old pre-2018 form, NUFC could potentially have an amazing keeper for the next five to ten years.

Speaking of goalkeepers, somehow I've been missing out on Ben Foster the entire time. He's always got an interesting story to tell, it seems

... and it seems that Newcastle even wanted him recently - trying to snap up all the goalkeepers, are they? - but he's decided to retire and focus on content creation instead.

I think many forget he was concussed by Sergio Ramos. It's never good to see someone falter like that

England vs Germany ended in a 3 - 3 draw. Give credit to England being down 2 - 0 in the second half and then scoring three straight goals until Germany scored the final and tying goal with two minutes left in regulation.

One question, CT.  Maguire? 😁
