And both ManU and Liverpool moved up nicely in the standings.  Still, season is young.

In more ways than one. Casemiro seems a good signing, and maybe they dodged a bullet with De Jong, because what the fuck is wrong with him if he's willing to have his wages reduced to stay at a dysfunctional Barcelona that's clearly on life support

After getting relegated to the bench by Nick Pope, former #1 NUFC goalkeeper Martin Dubravka decided he'd rather warm the bench in Manchester than in the Northeast  ;D

He'll be joining Tom Heaton, who I think got replaced by Nick Pope at Burnley, in trying to provide some competition for De Gea.

Maybe Man Utd should've just gone ahead and signed Nick Pope directly then  :emot_laughing:

Is Soccer getting more predictable?

A paper published at the end of 2021 in Royal Society Open Science suggests your favorite professional matches are not the nail biters that they used to be.  After reading an excerpt of this report in the September/October edition of Popular Mechanics, the article came to the conclusion that increasing professionalism and inequity of funding to these leagues are the likely culprits. With more money to buy and sell skilled players, teams at the top of the league can more reliably thrash their underfunded competitors who can't afford to stack their roster.

I think that can now apply to any professional sport teams.

Think there will be any last-minute eye-opening acquisitions?

Another win by ManU.  They need to tighten up their short passes. Ronaldo coming off the bench in the second half seems to be working.

ManU looked very good against #1 Arsenal today, beating them 3-1. Their new $100 million man, Antony, scored ManU's first goal. Even Maguire (sp?) was allowed to play some in the second half.

I watched that match, and it was the first time in my life where I was rooting for ManU to win...

After last night's abysmal display Chelsea have sacked Thomas Tuchel.  :o

I liked him and thought he dealt with the media very well when the club management board cowardly left him to face them on his own during the sanctions fiasco.  However the recent poor play is either bad coaching or he had lost the confidence of the players.  Playing Ziyech last night when the player wants to leave and has a bad attitude may have been a sign of Tuchel's disillusionment.

Many thanks for the Champions League win TT.

Some vacant management choices:-

Zinedine Zidane
Maurizio Pochettino (sp?)
Sean Dyche
Boris Johnson

I guess when the new owner just blew a load of money and yet the team plays like shit, it's easier just to sack the manager  :o

Boris Johnson  :emot_laughing:

Just read that Graham Potter could also be a target

Potter is the bookies favourite at 5-1 and Pochettino 7-1
