I was there!  And still fuming!  The lunatic fringe are also complaining about the first goal because of the foul on Havertz.  My opinion is that that was debatable, the referee was behind the play and can be forgiven.  Also it was almost a minute before the goal was scored.  My anger is reserved for Jorginho fannying about in his own penalty area and getting caught in possession.  >:(

If Man U doesn't score in their next match against Liverpool, their goal of the month would have to be an own goal ;D

This is worth a read:

Good article. I think the pressure on the referees have increased with the matches being heavily televised and all the slow motion devices  that it  brings. VAR has become such an integral part of the games. Some old timers insist the game should play without them and let the ref be the final judge of all things. I can see it both ways.

With Harry Kane scoring in yesterday's match, he is now the leader in most goals scored by an individual with one team in the 30 year history of the EPL. He has 165 goals and counting.

Wow, my bias is really showing, because I thought for some reason Shearer would be top or second. But other than Kane, he also has Aguero, Rooney, and Henry ahead of him

I guess I keep forgetting Shearer also played for Blackburn  :emot_laughing:

I hate statistics that are Premier League only.  They actually do Alan Shearer a disservice when they state that he is the all time PL top scorer with 260 goals, he scored 22 goals in top flight league football before the PL was in existence.

CT - I was pulling for Newcastle today. Too bad they couldn't hold the 3-1 lead over City but least they got a point out of their hard fought game.

That makes him fifth overall. Jimmy Greaves from Chelsea and Tottenham has the top spot with 357. But the most impressive might be Dixie Dean with 310 goals in 362 matches  :o

At first I couldn't believe they blew a 3-1 lead, then I decided I should just be happy they didn't lose to City   ;D

I've also seen some funny nicknames for the match... Oil Clasico, Gulf Derby  :emot_laughing:

Watched Newcastle v Man City (great game) in order to try and erase the Chelsea debacle from my mind.

Currently watching ManU v Liverpool.  A superbly taken goal by Jadon Sancho, ice cool in front of goal and he put Milner and Alison on their arses.

So apparently all the previous managers had to do was not play Maguire  :emot_laughing:

ManU actually looked good. They hustled and pestered the Liverpool players, though never rest easy until the ref blows the whistle ending the match. ManU's first points of the season.
