Feels like Maguire's been hyped up in the past to the point where he started to believe the bullshit himself. ...and it's almost like everyone but ten Hag worries that if they drop ol slab head and the team loses anyway, then there's room for criticism that starting the "best" center back might have turned things around.

The Tottenham - Arsenal match was hard fought in the 1st half, with a 1-1 draw. But now see the Spurs are down 3-1 in the 80th minute.

On the bright side, at least it's only their first loss of the season

Meanwhile, I was looking at Newcastle in tenth... they've also lost only one so far, but in addition won only one. The rest are draws. To think if they would've scored just one more goal in two matches, they could be in fourth place  ;D

Nice job by Brighton, though  :o

He's got amazing physical talent. Great speed and coordination for his size (a lot of other players aren't the fastest or most agile), he's got no problem pushing defenders out of the way, and he's fearless when it comes to basically throwing himself at the ball to score a goal any way possible  :o

Edit: I think one problem for keepers is that they see the ball approaching and Haaland chasing after that, and they make the mistake of thinking 'Oh, there's no way he's going to get that' But he does, and then they aren't ready for it mentally  ;D

I might be biased, but I think this Man Utd defeat was much more interesting  ;D

I did watch the Norway match. He was open numerous times, but his team couldn't get the ball into him.

..but I just realized that September marked my 25th anniversary already. September 17, 1997 was when I watched both my first Champions League and Newcastle match, and when my journey with NUFC began. A nice thing about the video is that it's from the ESPN coverage that day, which is exactly what I was watching. I believe the commentators were JP Dellacamera and Tommy Smith (not the former Liverpooler though)

We had a channel back then called Fox Sports World that began showing Serie A.. I want to say about 1998.. so I'd get to see him there as well. Also some fun memories, like the Juventus vs Inter rivalry, or when Milan thrashed Inter 6-0 under Cesare Maldini a few years later, though English football has always been my favorite.

Re: Haaland, I just saw a statistic where Andy Cole scored 5 through his first 8 matches in 1993 (34 in 42), and Shearer 6 in 1994 (34 in 42). Salah had 4 in 2017, though by then the schedule had been reduced to 38 matches, and he had only 32 goals overall.

Regardless, Haaland has had 14 in 8, and if he could keep that up, he should finish the season with 66 goals in the Premier League!  :o

That's probably unrealistic, but I think that the previous scoring records are under threat anyway.

It's always been said that Dixie Dean's record of 60 goals (39 appearances in 1927-1928) in the top division would never be beaten, especially in the modern game.  I'm not so sure now.

I remember Dellacamera broadcasting matches.  Then, of course, I remember watching matches that were televised in black and white.  ;D ;D
