Sir Ramos The Rogue has been vanquished
(MissB will understand the reference - and many thanks for the part played by her compatriot)
I was able to watch both legs, and Chelsea certainly earned their victory.
Sir Ramos wasn't himself. He was coming off an injury and hadn't played in two months, but the Chelsea attackers were dancing around him all afternoon. And he wasn't a presence when RMA was attacking.
My loyalty notwithstanding, Pulisic is always exciting to watch. He gives 100% every second he's on the pitch, and his assist to Mount was a thing of beauty.
I've long been a fan of Cesar Azpilicueta (and not just because his name is so fun to say out loud). He's a true field general, and it was interesting to see him play as a wing back (or whatever you call that position).
Nobody on the Madrid side appeared to be themselves, not even Hazard. A frightening team on paper but maybe long past their best, as long as we kept the ball away from Benzema we had their measure. I was on the point of screaming "*!$£ing pass it" at the screen but Pulisic knew what he was doing and delayed just long enough for Mount to get into position.
I am a great fan of Azpilicueta (or "Dave" as he is known to Chelsea fans - it's a long story, explanation on request). People that have met him say he is really great to talk to, and so was Diego Costa who appeared as a bit of a thug on the pitch. A few years ago while on holiday in Spain I saw a wine from the Azpilicueta vineyard, it turned out that it was nothing to do with him but I just had to try a glass or two.
The Chelsea women's team are in their Champoins League final as well, and still in with a chance of four trophies this year.
