I’m just happy that the sub forum is now called “Sports.” I am told that the Brits prefer to say sport, but there is more than one. Thank you MJ.

I think it is another instance of the royal "we", Toe. But we don't say "do the math", there is more than one branch of mathematics.   ;D

Glad to see the Magpies win, but wouldn't like to see Burnley relegated either.  Another goal for ManU in "Fergie Time" I see, not the winner though.

Thanks to Everton's two assists by their mid back,  the Spurs were able to get a point from the match on Friday night.  You do have to give Spur's player, Kane, great credit for hanging around the goal and taking advantage of the balls coming his way.

I saw that, CT. And Obi has to be happy that Chelsea knocked off ManCity's chance of winning four different cups this season by defeating ManCity yesterday 1-0 in the FA cup. On any given day....

They've lost only one of their last four matches, and, more important, they've pushed themselves comfortably away from the relegation zone.

I honestly can't see Kane staying beyond this season. Mourinho will get the sack if he doesn't win a trophy.

Yeah, that loss to Brighton and the fact that they still have to play the likes of Arsenal, Liverpool, and Man City had me worried.. but at least two of those three opponents haven't had the best form either, and it would require a really terrible upcoming month from Newcastle and a really nice streak from Fulham for Newcastle to still drop down into the relegation zone. 😌

As much as it pains me to say it, I agree with you. Kane has given his heart and soul to Spurs, and unless Spurs beat City to win EFL Cup next Sunday, the season will be yet another failure. At this point, they might not qualify for European competition next year at all.

The Spurs seem to have dissension in their team and Morinho can't seem to get the players on board. It will cost some team a lot of money for Kane.

It'll be interesting to see how the European Super League develops. I can't say I'm excited right now because having those 'elite' teams play each other every week cheapens matches in my opinion. Another thing is, if UEFA don't step in and do something, they're basically telling the clubs they can do whatever they like, but on the other hand if the clubs get kicked out of the EPL, La Liga, etc, then those leagues will be worse off.

And Mourinho is gone.   Not really surprising, but a couple of days before a final?

When Mourinho shook up his starting line up a few weeks ago, the Spurs won.  Then it was the same Spurs of old who could not hold onto a lead.  Sad.

Yes, very pleased that Chelsea bossed ManC, probably not an interesting game for the neutral observer though. Tactical error by Pep in not playing Foden & Gundogan. As ManC are nailed on for the Premier League and he wanted to rest two in form players he could have waited until the Aston Villa game in mid-week.  An old adage from my youth was "never change a winning team".

Fun facts: both semi-final goals were scored in the 55th minute and the first goal conceded by Southampton in this season's competition.

This news also qualifies for the "what ruined your day" thread.  I am ashamed that Chelsea have put their name to this and I really thought that Abramovich had more respect for the club.  All previous discussions about breakaway leagues have not had their name attached to it.  The idea goes against all that fans of the game hold dear, but the match attending fan hasn't been a priority for many years.  UEFA have modified the Champions League twice since 1998 in order to keep the big clubs onside and were about to apease them for a third time.  I hope this is only a shot across the bows of UEFA but as the Super League 12 have already started legal proceedings designed to stave off retailation by UEFA, FA, etc.  I won't hold my breath.

The fact that FIFA is against it and threatening to ban players fron World Cups may carry some weight.  I don't often feel sorry for people earning up to £300,000 per week but the players are going to be caught up in the middle of bans like this.
