RIP two legends from my footballing youth - Peter Lorimer (Leeds & Scotland) and Frank Worthington (Leicester & England).  Two characters as different as chalk and cheese.  Lorimer was a fantastic footballer who knew how to party while Worthington was a party animal who knew how to play football. Worthington was probably only second to George Best in womanising and drinking yet produced magic like this

I grew up following the antics of George Best, on and off the field. Wonder if they would party as hard if they played the amount of games today's footballers play.

They would be crucified by social media as well. No smartphone cameras to catch their every off-field move in those days.  Worthington's autobiography is titled "One Hump Or Two?"  ;D

I started following in the mid/late 90s and decided back then I'd like Newcastle best. In my defense that was at the tail end of the 'Entertainers' era, but I've spent much of the last 20 years hoping the latest defeat wasn't too one-sided

I spent a lot of time in Newcastle in the late 60s and went to a lot of their matches.  Still look to see how they are getting on as they have such great local support.

I've heard the supporters accused of being delusional in thinking Newcastle is a big club. Apparently I fit right in because I believe that it actually is a big club, the real problem is the owner just hasn't realized it yet  ;D

(actually, from what I've heard about Ashley it sounds like he's only interested in keeping the club relevant enough to make some money off it and use it as free advertisement space for Sports Direct)

Ashley's blatant attempt to rename the ground as the SportsDirect stadium met with so much derision from fans all over England that he retracted it.

Obi - I watched the Chelsea ladies beat the Aston Villa ladies 2 - 0 today on a cold, blustery day in south London. Same weather we had in Chicago. I wonder what their pay is compared to the mens?

I'm impressed by your dedication to soccer, watcher. I really have no idea what the women are paid but I hazard a guess that it doesn't come anywhere near the men's.

I played the game many years ago before it became big time here in the states. Never lost my love for the game.

My sympathy, Obi.  And on international television. But to be fair, Chelsea did play a man light after the 29th minute.

Oh the humiliation. I can hear MissB smirking from here.

Chelsea were awful, a man down against a team second from bottom should not present an insurmountable problem, they had no idea how to play when a man down and a goal up, most teams will practice this scenario. The manager underestimated West Brom and thought a rusty Silva would do a job for him.  Jorginho was awful, continually putting other players in trouble.  Pulisic pulled a hamstring running on at half time! His injury record will soon earn him the "Sicknote" accolade.

West Brom's finishing was exemplary though and they took their chances well.

The Spurs managed a point today, so MissB probably  did smile a little.  ;D

My thanks to The Toon/Magpies for denying Spurs all three points. I will be a temporary Wolves supporter this evening  :emot_cheerlead:

Not much. They were up 2-1 and had fourth place in hand until the 85th minute...

Now back down to 5th.  Was hoping for a draw between The Hammers and The Foxes.

Lingard has certainly made a difference for WH.

Woohoo, three points for Newcastle!  8)

I also watched a bit of West Ham/Leicester. It seems like the players that have left Man Utd since OGS became manager have done better in their new homes, like Lukaku at Inter, Smalling at Roma, and now Lingard at West Ham.

Spurs had ManU up by one at half. This year, it seems ManU is a second half team. Scored three on the Spurs for a win.
