Maybe it's because I don't have siblings or maybe I'm just weird, but I somehow don't consider her banging her step brother to be incest. There's a reason he's her step brother and not her brother.
Lol, so you mean that step-siblings count as bang-able?😅😅
Nevermind, just kidding, plus, as I said, it’s her business and her choices, if it works out for her, then good for her, though still, doesn’t mean that it is everyone else’s cup of tea as well,  and certainly does not mean that she ought to coerce others into doing the same as well, plus I’m glad, to have lied a little bit, as if I had answered a couple of her questions with the truth, then with her such responses, I’m sure it’d have ended with a lot of cussing back and forth.

I meant that I find it odd that she advocates incest and yet her experience was with her step brother, which I don't consider incest.

Imagine you have a girlfriend, and your and her parents are both divorced. Your mother and her father fall in love and get married.. technically, that makes your girlfriend now your step sister. But does that really mean you and your girlfriend need to break up now and that otherwise it's incest?

Lol, you probably don’t know CT, but the “Hypothetical” situation you just described, it actually happened in the exact same way to some people, had read about it on Reddit, if I  look up the post, will send it to you.

Merriam Webster defines incest as sexual intercourse between persons so closely related that they are forbidden by law to marry. I was surprised that the definition does not specify being blood related at all.

I've always thought that incest requires a connection by blood, but now that I think about it, that would become problematic with aunt/uncle relationships because only one of the two is related by blood. The other is related only by marriage.

MW defines related as being connected by common ancestry or sometimes by marriage. That word "sometimes" is troublesome. As far as I know it's not illegal for a man to marry a woman (of legal age) just because he may have been married previously to her mother.

My takeaway from this is---if you have to ask whether it's incest or not, the answer is probably yes.  :roll:

I was 21 when my mom married Frank, who became my stepfather. He had a daughter that I had sent a love letter to when we were in 4th grade. Thank God she never brought up the love letter when we were adults.

The current Texas incest law is as follows:

(a) A person commits an offense if the person engages in sexual intercourse or deviate sexual intercourse with another person the actor knows to be, without regard to legitimacy:

(1) the actor’s ancestor or descendant by blood or adoption;

(2) the actor’s current or former stepchild or stepparent;

(3) the actor’s parent’s brother or sister of the whole or half blood;

(4) the actor’s brother or sister of the whole or half blood or by adoption;

(5) the children of the actor’s brother or sister of the whole or half blood or by adoption; or

(6) the son or daughter of the actor’s aunt or uncle of the whole or half blood or by adoption.

So basically you need blood relations. Parents, children, aunts, uncles, first cousins, by blood or adoption.  Not too difficult.  Unless they are really hot.

What is it with Karens? A Karen bought our product from another vendor and then wanted advice on how to use the item. Our specialists (corporate policy) will not speak to the person unless they bought the product from us. When I informed Karen of that, she went "all Karen" on me and made the usual threats. Our calls are recorded and my manager could possibly get ugly with me for not being more empathetic. I was at the beginning, but when she started going all Karen on me I stopped cooperating.

I didn't raise my voice or get ugly, but I did get cold. I don't appreciate the culture of entitlement. In my life, only once have I been ugly with customer service and I regret it. I had spent A LOT of money on an item and the customer service person, though I had been ugly with her, admitted that the company had sent out a defective product and she swapped out that item for a more expensive item because she conceded that the company was sending out a defective product.
Why do companies place customer service agents in this position?

 I went through a similar process this past summer. The company ran three specials at the same time and the sales campaign was beyond successful-the problem was, the company only a limited number of product. People were calling, saying "I placed my order two months ago and it hasn't arrived." When I checked the website, it replied only "product unavailable." Our supervisors soon found out and it took two months for the CEO to find out and he personally went to the warehouse to unfuck it. Long story, but the entire warehouse crew had quit en masse and the new people had no clue. Anyway, when the CEO personally contacted all of the affected people, things finally calmed down (and the new warehouse crew was correctly trained), but geez.

I hear you man,
Previously, never knew what this Karen stereotype was all about.
But last month, had a reply on a YouTube comment by a Karen, Replied to her in the nicest, respectable way .
Yet she continued to make a mountain out of a molehill.
Honestly, I just wanted to snap, say Fu€K 0ff and all that, but restrained myself and just turned off the reply updates on that particular comment and muted her.

As for the thread, spent hours refreshing the page today to check for any pms here at Kristen’sBoard.

Has anyone else noticed how there's an instantly recognizable derogatory term for aggressive or assertive women, yet no such derogatory term exists for aggressive or assertive men?

Sexist stereotypes are alive and well!

Meanwhile, one of my closest friends is named Karen, and she's one of the sweetest and most reasonable women you'll ever meet. And she loathes the way her name has been perverted into a derogatory stereotype.

She's too nice to say anything about it.

I, on the other hand, an not.

Actually MissB I have noticed a new term going around for men like that. "Male Karen". Read an article the other day about a jerk who was demanding free food or something from a drive through, and then cried about not getting it and they labeled him a "male Karen" my Aunt Amy has a sister named Karen and she too is a very sweet person, but she's not so upset about the term, she makes a joke of it. Says things like "my names Karen so you best watch yourself" I don't know it it really bothers her or not.

It's the same as Bitch. It's like one of the worst things you can call a man. Call him a jerk or asshole and fine whatever, but call him a bitch and he gets all puffed up. It's like in order to insult him, he must first be considered a woman, and then insulted as as woman. Like a double whammy.

Maybe we should start our own thing MissB. Start referring to arrogant pricks as Adolf or something... or stop being a Donald...

It took me a while to get the whole ‘Karen’ thing, and then I immediately thought of my wonderful sister-in-law Karen who never behaves that way.  I suppose using terms like self-absorbed, entitled and confrontational aren’t as trendy as picking a random name, and I agree it does seem like there’s a gender bias on things like that.  I demand to talk to whoever manages that!

I’ve never referred to anyone by calling them Karen unless it was her name.  And I’m still not sure about the ‘Bye Felicia’ thing, and would rather just tell someone to fuck off.

I'm of the "old school" types I guess. If the situation or my anger calls for it, I'll call a man an asshole a woman a bitch or slut. add and adjective here and there to add emphasis...

Honestly, only once, but I heard someone use Kevin, as an equivalent of male Karen.
As for Miss B, I understand what you mean, that due to most, some who are actually 1000x better people, also get caught in the loop.

There are male Karens and they are the worst type of man because they feel entitled. "Well, I have spent X amount of dollars here in the past 15 years...blah blah blah." I had a business mentor, owned 27 dry cleaner stores. One day, instead of his personal vehicle, he drove a company van to one of his stores. While in the back, he heard a ruckus up front. The owner went to the front. There, a longtime customer was chewing out the register girl, just being an asshole-he didn't have an actual complaint, but he sweetened up on seeing the owner. The owner resolved the situation and asked questions after the customer left. That day, the owner found out that the customer had been abusive to clerks at three of his stores. He called the customer at home and told him him that he was banned from all of the locations and to take his business elsewhere. I wish more bosses were like that.

The phrase "male Karens" only further perpetuates the derogatory stereotypes.

Calling someone a "male Karen" is by way of saying, "He's as irrational as a woman."

There's a perfectly applicable word for people like this, and it's stereotype-free and applicable of people of any gender: "Assholes."
