I turned in an almost entirely blank ballot.

People here, at college, and elsewhere on the internet have successfully convinced me that the DNC is capable of a level of violence, censorship, authoritarianism, and hate that I don't feel represents me and certainly isn't the actions of a party that I can support.

And the GOP has proven to be just as pro-censorship as the left--albeit in a less violent way--and there is just as much authoritarianism there.  And I don't feel that they represent me or a party I can support.

The Libertarians have time and again proven themselves to be the party of conspiracy theories.  And though they reject the violence and hate on the left and the right, I can't get behind people that believe in chem trails and a flat earth.

And the Green Party just lacks common political sense to me.

So rather than not vote and be counted as an apathetic voter,  I just voted on referendums and did my tradition of voting down judges (working on the assumption that people habitually vote for them out of lack of knowledge).

Just another surplus living the American dream

That's laudable. Sincerely, I already gave you a Woo! today for Plyler vs Doe, but for once, I started a thread.  You were the only one to stand up, and EXEMPLIFY exactly what the thread was actually all about.  Instead of arguing why voting is useless.  You voted in protest.

(I wasn't given the option of voting down judges.  Almost all of them in this district were unopposed.  Still, great example.)

It wasn't a protest vote.  I just don't have a party I can morally support since most of you all are acting like the fascists you claim to oppose.

Didn't you just accuse me of encouraging people to "Punch a Fascist" when they don't agree with me?  I just agreed with you, I literally applauded, and yet your trigger is so strong, you can't take a compliment without calling someone (Unnamed, just "Most of you") fascists?

You know, it's kinda hard to like you when you hate people not hating you so much, but I'm not going to stop trying...

No, I accused you of telling me that that mentioning Irish-Americans was white supremacy when not placed in the proper woke order.  I accused the people that support identitarian politics of encouraging people to punch anyone they don't agree with, because not agreeing with them is "fascism."

I just wanted to make it clear that it's not a "protest vote"  a protest vote would be voting against Hillary because she won the campaign.  What I did was go to the polls and decide that I couldn't support Trump or punching people that have a different view.

Well, I decided to try not attacking you to see how long it took you to notice.  It's been a couple months now.  So, how's that fit into your New "Woke" Order?

I'm so sorry I didn't put you people First.

There are lots of fresh faces on the ballot this year.  People that normally don't run.  We have lunch ladies, chicken farmers, and lots of women running.  So go out and vote for people that will represent you best!

Like Cortez?  Thank you no.  Most of those fresh faces are of the bent to label anyone that simply has a view that differs from their own as the enemy.

I refuse to go there.

Uhm.  When did you ever not do that?  You just spent all yesturday literally Labeling me (I belive it was "Fascist") your enemy for thanking, and agreeing with you, after welcoming you back.

Honestly, your IFF is so broken, it's probably better that you don't vote, since Everyone's an asshole (Except you) despite all efforts not to attack you.  You're triggered by being Quoted.

In the far past I was a Republican and voted Republican.  Even recently I have voted Republican in state and local elections in my left leaning state.

This morning I was approached by the Republican running for County Executive at my polling place (probably she votes there too).  I didn’t reply to her plea to vote for all the Republicans on the list she handed me for governor on down, but I wanted to say, ‘Sorry, the orange clown has tainted all of you this year.  Maybe in 4 years when the orange clown is in the dustbin of history.’

As satisfying as that might have been, it wouldn’t have done anything productive.  Better to show my displeasure with my vote.

They let them do that in your state?  They don't let people on the ballot, hang around polling places, and tell people to vote straight Republican here, and this is fucking Texas!  Where do you live, Florida?

Thanks for voting, though.  And participating in this poll.  what is that, 2 now?  3 counting myself, but still.

There’s a specified distance allowed for such solicitation.  I have to assume she and the others congregating on that portion of the sidewalk trying to get my attention were abiding by that distance from the polling place.  Perhaps if she was only soliciting me to give me a blow job, she could have been closer (and might have got my vote.  Hey, it’s only County Executive.  I can sell my vote for that).

Or how to get a Head in politics?

Remember, Republicans aren't against whoring themselves for votes, they just don't publicly Admit to whoring themselves for votes, or fucking prostitutes on the side.  Until recently, the only time most people even payed attention to politics between presidential erections, was when there was a sex scandal, and even then it was just a flash in the pan.

Lesser of two evils.

As is the case of our two uber-wealthy choices. Third evil would be to not vote at all, which incumbent politicians love.

I vote we send him to a nice seaside resort in Cuba, overlooking a bay...

Also, that place is still open, and we do in fact continue to keep prisoners there.  Though we aren't AFAIK still torturing them.  (No further information.)  It's only been 10 years since someone got elected on the promise that he'd close that down.

My hot little Latina got the TV signal to work in the bedroom yesterday.  It had been about 8 months since I had a picture on that TV.  It took her about 5 minutes to get it working, whereupon I stuttered, ‘Wad ya do to fix it?’

She won’t tell me.  She’s like a kid that way, a savant at TVs.  And won’t tell the hapless ‘adult’ how to do it.

Why is this relevant in this thread?  She goes home this evening, and I’ll be alone tonight in bed watching election results, drinking bourbon, yelling at the TV and scaring the dog.  Essentially behaving in ways I can’t if she were there.  It’s better than football, and I’ll be cheering for my team, our team, the team that will hopefully right this dangerously listing ship that is the U.S.

I tried that, we literally only get about 6 or 7 channels in this whole fucking city.

Couldn’t do that because of Congressional restrictions.

Meanwhile, back on topic, I just voted, and my local polling place (a public school) was packed. One of the workers there told me it's been packed all day. It's now 4:50 local time, and the after-work rush is still to come. It's a heavily Democratic district, but I wouldn't project that outside my little corner of New York City.
