Way to keep sheltering us even from our own mistakes.

At once, you claim ignorance, to absolve yourself for it, and blame someone you have not known until (Allegedly) an adult for sheltering you.  because they told you something that doesn't fit in your echo chamber:

Grow up.  At some point.  Take responsibility for you life, or resign yourself to being the perennial victim.  It's your life, your choice.

Grow the fuck up.  Fuckup.

You're not much inclined to put thought into your replies, are you?

I'm just saying, most of us are over 18, old enough to vote, officially adults.  Whatever parenting skills came into play or didn't...ultimately we are responsible for our own views and politics, our own actions. And we are calling for shit like this.

So, you learned to take responsibility for your own mistakes in college then?  I suppose you could prove it, by admitting that you didn't learn Bias, and Entitlement 101 from the Safe Spaces they provided there.

Yeah, unlike some people I'm NOT focused on blaming everyone else for my problems.

Yeah, unlike some people I'm NOT focused on blaming everyone else for my problems.

Is that so?  So by process of elimination, I'm not considered a person?

it seems that you are, though. There are yards of your posts that point that out.

Would these be the posts where I refuse to find people guilty by accusation?

Or the posts where I am against taking away the rights of men so I can feel that I have more rights?

The posts where I argue that  that if you are going to be against hate speech, you can't use the same hate speech on the people it is OK to hate?

This post where I blamed myself and people my age rather than my parents on things like "safe spaces?"

Or the ones that are against the use of violence, or any means, to suppress speech?

Which ones exactly are we talking about?

I only came back here because she would continually blame me for you leaving RU.

You're back on Ignore.  Have a nice life.

Irishgirl, you continually demonstrate a lack of understanding, the depths of which makes any political discussion with you moot. You fail to even see the arguments being poised and instead focus only on your talking points.

I concede that we’re your talking points couched with less hysteria, and less blame, with more deliberative analysis, I would likely be agreeing with you.

But they aren’t.

You don’t appear to be trying to be part of the solution, you seem to be part of the problem.

Considering the fact that she finally admitted that her only reason for being here is to get back at Lois and me, we'll have to wait and see if she continues without me to argue with.  Lois isn't on here often enough to feed her persecution complex.  Last time she left it was because I ignored her.  It's quite possible that she has enough of a hard-in for arguing with Athos now.

There are at least 3 people here who are perpetually high strung.  Rather than seeing each other as kindred spirits that actually do share core beliefs, the end result is a mix like oil and water.

Quite often, 2 personalities that are too similar in too many ways see something in each other we don't really like to see in ourselves.  This can be triggering.  So, when a dick meets an asshole, they can get along together.  2 assholes?  Nothing can cum out of that but more shit.

Personally, I see nothing wrong with safe spaces.  Such places include Women's Centers, Veteran's support groups, LBGT Clubs, Jewish groups and others.

While such groups, just like churches, can breed intolerence for others, I think usually the outcome is more positive.

I ran the Women's Center at San Francisco State University in the early 1980's. We had various groups that met there, including Rape Survivors (which included men), and discussions about how to ensure equal treatment, birth control, medical services and sexual assault that also included any men that wanted to attend.

I think we helped many people explore their options and have better lives.  I never understood those that objected to Women's Centers or demanded Men's Centers.

Few campuses still have Women's Centers today.

Also, I'm just going to call Catholic/Cristian Private Schools the ultimate Safe Space when it comes to rejecting any ideologies that might be potentially offensive, or "Heresy."  In fact, a lot of Intollerance comes out of there, for example Operation Rescue, which committed hospital bombings, and assassinations with the battle-cry "Life is Precious!"

Also Irony, but this isn't new.  It's just wrong when the Liberals do it.  Nobody's being burned at the stake here, so I'm just going to call that the critereon for my satisfaction:  Nobody's getting hurt, tortured, killed, or blown up.  Until it gets to the level of Catholic intolerance, I think we can let them protest in College, and have a quiet place to study without distractions.

The solution being what?

In this case passing the blame onto my elders isn't exactly constructive.  You are not "offering a solution" by doing that, you're offering an excuse.

A solution would by to issue the same proclamations that the University of Chicago has, specifically that they will not be allowing for safe spaces, trigger warnings, or limiting the freedom of speech even when that speech may be offensive to some.

That is a solution.  Rejecting the concept of safe spaces and limitations on speech is a solution.

Pointing your fingers at parents and saying "it's your fault because you were helicopter parents"  is, in fact, the "talking points" that are "couched in hysteria" and ultimately doesn't solve anything other than shifting the blame.
