I have already shown how the US says it's better to "sneak in."

This anti-immigrant stuff is bad for America.  Immigrants enrich our economy.  We need to find ways to encourage legal immigration complete with background checks, etc., not illegal immigration.

It is especially useful to allow people with family already here to immigrate.  That gives them a support system so they can become hard working taxpayers sooner, rather than later.

Our nation was built on immigration.  That is what has made America great.

Showing heartlessness by separating children from their parents is hurting America.  As is deporting people who are married to American citizens and have children.  Having one parent deported is really bad.  Suddenly these children no longer have a breadwinner or caretaker and they suddenly have to depend on welfare and food stamps. This is costing us a lot of $$ and hurting US citizen children.  It is time to go back to the granting of residency for aliens that have married US citizens, providing they do not have a felony on their record.

Destroying families is not good policy.

We agree, Lois, on welcoming legal immigrants, those who apply for a Visa, and make a case for acceptance for entry, seeking American citizenship in the long term. Such immigrants, when self sustaining, are welcomed, and we take more legal immigrants per year than do all the other Nations in the world.

Illegal immigration, whether from crossing our physical borders, or overstay of a tourist or student or other legitimate original visa, is not welcomed at all.
These folks if self sustaining, not accepting Welfare from Government at all, paying their own way for Medical needs, and staying clear of criminal justice system, can be great neighbors. I can understand how citizen neighbors will miss having these illegal alien neighbors, when they are detected, deported.

We are a nation of laws, or so we all used to claim, not of men. Thus, those who are here without a legitimate Visa, need to get themselves right with the law. That should be one of their main priorities to avoid further problems.

Those who take jobs, which if there were no illegal aliens, would either not be done at all, or would be done by U.S. Citizens, are a real problem. One by one these folks need to be displaced in our society, removed according to the law, and U.S. Citizens will be the stronger for it.

Except that illegal aliens have contributed a net $63 billion to the economy according to a recent govt study.

That really pissed off Trump who asked that the study be done.

There are not enough people willing to take minimum wage jobs to keep the economy growing.  Trump’s trade wars are affecting, and ultimately killing off, large segments of the economy.  A lack of migrant workers are killing the agricultural sector.  White people will have no one to mow their lawns, clean their toilets, do their laundry.  It’s the economy stupid.  Stupid.

The Economy is doing quite well right now, and one need only go online, use an 800 number, and get near instant (same day/next day) response for lawn grooming, and many other routine tasks.

Wages will advance to meet the market demand for labor, legal labor by a U.S. Citizen or a otherwise legal worker, employed by a compliant company owner who does not hire illegal aliens as employees. An honest workforce, with honest Employers, enforced with severe penalties for dishonest Employment on both the Employer and Employees, is preferable to random illegals filling what need not be a gap.

We have NO NEED for illegal immigration or illegal immigrants, just as we have no NEED for any other criminal behavior. Illegal immigration must be stopped, not reduced, stopped entirely.

Legal immigrants are welcomed, provided the Nation requires more legal immigrants. Curbs on all non-citizens exist on employment, and require the laws be enforced, fully enforced (and if found to be poor laws, then enforce them until the legislation to change said laws is passed).

Perhaps a Last In, First Out priority is required, along with relocation of 90% of Immigration Court Judges to the Southern Border immediately, to bring the border demand into a state of control, while new Immigration Court Judges are hired, and put into service, beginning at the Southern Border to experience the reality there, then transferred to more inland facilities are needed.

What difference does it make, to put on hold Immigration Courts in Inland States, or in some inland States, while the majority of assets relocate South and West to meet this demand, as we work with other Nations to gain better control over access to our Southern border.

We should welcome asylum seekers.  Why?

In countries run by thugs an street gangs like Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nepal, Haiti and Cameroon, people have two choices: 1) Join the gangs and embrace violence, or 2) Refuse to be complicit in the violence and seek a way to come to the Untied States.

Those who leave are especially brave and have the drive to seek a better life.  These people are assets to any country that would welcome them.  They are hardworking and have a dream of finding peace, safety, and prosperity.

America was built by people like these.  We should forgive their illegal entry when their were no other options, like being turned away at ports of entry when officials tell them we are not accepting asylum seekers.  (This is happening now!)

We used to have a program that granted such people "Temporary Protected Status", but the Trump regime has ended that.  Furthermore, Trump, Sessions, et al., are crafting new guidelines for asylum seekers.  Those fleeing domestic abuse and death threats from gangs will no longer be accepted or granted asylum at the border.  The Trump regime would rather send them home to their deaths instead of helping them.

This is wrong and it is inhumane.

Trump’s immigration policies are based on only one thing, pleasing his base so they give him more adulation at the next rallies.  OK, all his policies are based on that, with the exception of attacking political opponents, attacking those investigating him and the policies meant to enrich himself and his progeny.  It’s a government of me, me, me. . . . .

An influx of aliens at a particular Port of Entry can exceed capacity on a given day. Stuff happens when thousands of uninvited foreigners, without Visas, just show up sometimes.

When the crowd exceeds capacity, for safety purposes, an announcement is made, and interested 'would be future citizens' can apply another day. That is the suggested remedy, and illegal entry is never a suitable option.

Breaking the law, unauthorized border crossing, wading the Rio Grande, is a way to be denied access to the Nation who is being disrespected by criminal trespass, especially child abuse by dragging along foreign minors on such a criminal adventure.

When a business closes, limits access, such as on St. Patricks Day, due to over capacity, what is expected of those who wish access? Go around back and break a window to gain access? Scale the roof and rappel via the business' skylights? Obviously not.

Such potential customers/consumers are free to go away, come back later, wait in line outside the establishment, in Mexico in this case, or find lodging for the evening and come back tomorrow, as many times as it takes to gain legal entry. They just walked 2000 miles, why would anyone choose not to wait a day or more to attain their supposed 'dream'.

"People from sh**hole countries can only come here." FALSE.

How about a better plan, such as: Move to a safer place at home.
Or, Invade a safer country not as far a walk from where you live.

There is nothing 'logical' about walking thousands of miles, to a destination where you are uninvited, and therefore unexpected, and only have the ability to overwhelm a facility on a off chance your poor reason for Asylum will some how be passable, makes one wonder as to the sanity of individuals, and why any country would be seeking to have them residing, let alone long term living.

I read about the Father of the little girl featured by fake news Time's cover.
He was previously deported several times, lives in a single room shack built from scraps his family gave him, with two mattresses, one for himself, one for his daughter.

He got into a altercation while playing soccer some time ago, with a criminal gang member/leader (whatever), and said criminal has been looking for him since... captured and tortured his brother at some point in their search, and so he divorced his wife, and headed North, to invade the US.  Forgive me if I mix this sad tale, with other sad tales of indigent illegal aliens in the MSM media.

He was Deported by Mexico, as well as the United States, in recent times, and recently signed paperwork to 'immediately Deport', since he tired of the wait to reunite with his daughter, who was being cared for in a HHS shelter.

She called him on his cell phone... he has a cell phone... twice in the last day or so, asking when 'daddy' would come to get her and bring her home... sad...
HHS is processing the alien girl, and likely will deport her

So this guy was told if he signed a paper for deportation he would get his daughter back?  Sounds like blackmail to me.

And then of course, the officials lied and he did not get his daughter back.

This man should be granted asylum by the U.S. right away in an attempt to right the wrongs done to him.

I applaud the work of the people of Portland for taking a stand against the horrific Trump policy of breaking up families.  I would like to see more of this across the United States.

ICE shuts down Portland office as protesters camp outside waiting for children to be reunited with families

By Nicole Chavez CNN

(CNN) -- US Immigration and Customs Enforcement has temporarily closed its field office in Portland, Oregon, as protests continue growing outside the facility.

Dozens of people began protesting against the Trump administration's "zero-tolerance" policy outside the office in southwest Portland last week. Some people began putting up tents near the facility's front door and around the building on Sunday and more have joined them since then.

Operations at the facility, including appointments with deportation officers, were suspended Wednesday and will continue until "security concerns have been addressed," the federal agency said in a statement.

"US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) fully respects the rights of all people to voice their opinion without interference," the agency said. "ICE remains committed to immigration enforcement consistent with federal law and agency policy."

Employees had been escorted out of the building by police on Tuesday, CNN affiliate KATU reported.

In a statement, organizers said demonstrators are committed to stay "there until concrete and meaningful action is taken to reunite families."

President Donald Trump signed an executive order on Wednesday to end the practice of separating family members who are apprehended at the southern border. However, the order has not changed anything in terms of reunification of undocumented families who had already been separated at the southern border, a Health and Human Services official said.

"Many of these migrants are seeking asylum, and separating their children displays the rank cruelty of this policy and exposes the evil intent behind it," organizers, a group named Occupy ICE PDX, said.

"Portland has declared itself a sanctuary city, but this facility stands in the way of that," the statement added.

Portland Mayor Ted Wheeler, who has criticized the Trump administration over family separations, said he had no plans to interfere with the peaceful protests.

"I want to be very clear I do not want the Portland Police to be engaged or sucked into a conflict, particularly from a federal agency that I believe is on the wrong track that has not fully lived American values of inclusion and is also an agency where the former head suggested that people who lead cities that are sanctuary cities like this one should be arrested," Wheeler tweeted.

"If they are looking for a bailout from this mayor, they are looking in the wrong place," he added.

My grandparents, mom & dad, aunts and uncles all survived the great depression (1929 - 1939).  They all told tales of hunger and desperation.  From these tales I learned it is no crime to steal food when you are hungry and you have no other alternatives.

From stories about line cabins in the mountains I also learned it is no crime to take shelter from a storm.  Many herders and lumbermen survived a blizzard by taking shelter in a line cabin or vacation home.  There is no crime in this.

So when it comes to refugees and asylum seeker, the same holds true.  If you come here because the alternative is death, and you are then turned away from a port of entry, there is no crime in crossing the border illegally.

We should all be able to seek shelter from a storm no matter what form it takes.

No, Lois, that is absurd. They should apply for a visa, wait 10 years, and then come in legally. I don’t care if they die while waiting, they must do it that way! Fear of death is no excuse.

I had a great-great grandfather that lived in what is now known as the Czech Republic. Then one day he poached a deer to feed is family. He was found out and fled with his family first to Austria and the the USA.  Technically he was a criminal.

No technically about it, Lois, and if at that time there was compliance between the Nation he fled, and the United States, perhaps you may have grown up speaking yet another language, besides whatever ones you know today.

As to breaking laws for reasons of personal 'necessity' as you described in a prior post, while one may not be punished for such law breaking with the usual sentence(s), the breaking of the law comes with consequences, and the person who breaks such laws, damages another's property by breaking it during a weather event, or in some other manner abuses another's property, is to be held liable to make that owner 'whole'. If not you, then who will make that owner 'whole'?

Socialist poets writing and others lobbying to post such a poem on the Statue of Liberty at some point, is nice.. and is not law, is not our Founders' words, or thoughts, and only the Poet should be held to account for those words.

Covering a few posts with remarks here. TY

The modern word is Refugees.  That's who she (That lady in the harbor holding up a Torch and the Law) is talking about, and that's who Goldfinger is claiming to defend America from.

Blame the Victims.  Because they might be terrorists, the Land of the Free is officially closed, if you're Brown.  If you happen to be a Slovenian Model, that's cool.  She's hot, let her in.

He's officially got the right to post a bouncer at the door, so only white people can get in.  (As per the recent SCotUS ruling.)

Tips For Staying Civil While Debating Child Prisons

Quote
Recent incidents of Trump officials being confronted in public for their role in the administration’s separation and imprisonment of immigrant families have driven renewed concern about the lack of civility in U.S. politics. The Onion presents tips for staying civil in a debate about child prisons.

Avoid unkind generalizations like equating the jailing of ethnic minorities with some malevolent form of fascism.

Consider that we all have different perspectives stemming from things like age, ethnicity, or level of racism.

Recall that violently rejecting a tyrannical government goes against everything our forefathers believed in.

Find common ground by recognizing that some kids are huge assholes.

Make sure any protests are peaceful, silent, and completely out of sight of anyone who could actually affect government policy.

Give your political opponents the benefit of the doubt by letting this play out for 20 years and seeing if it gets any better on its own.

Realize that every pressing social issue is solved through civil discourse if you ignore virtually all of human history.

Remind yourself that you’re just two people having a cocktail at the same D.C. party and that politics is a game to you.

Avoid painting with a broad brush. Not everyone in favor of zero-tolerance immigration wants to see children in cages—it’s more likely that they just don’t care.
