When your reading a story what do you prefer the story to mention ass or arse as in asshole or arsehole. Should the word cunt or pussy be used.
What other words used in a story put you off from finishing reading a story.

Six of one, half a dozen of the other.

Ass is American, arse is British.

Personally I don't particularly like the word cunt, but in some stories it fits the subject better... As for arse, I definitely prefer ass... though again it depends. I like bottom and behind too depending on the usage. :-p

I started to respond similarly last night but had to log off in a hurry.

I actually don't like the word 'pussy' or 'cunt'.    But I am comfortable reading when 'pussy' is used.   The word 'cunt' is just down right nasty and I think most women feel the same, so using it you might lose a portion of your readership.  If it's used in dialogue I'm a bit more acceptable to it.  When it's not used in dialogue, but instead is used by the author to reference a woman's vagina, I'll very likely stop reading because I've been completely put off by it.

I also understand that many here like the teen or underage girl stories.  To each their own.
But in my opinion, using the c-word when speaking of the anatomy of characters in that age range is absolutely repulsive.  For example, in a recently posted story. less than two paragraphs in the reader is greeted with this description of an 11 year old...

Quote
I had walked in on my brother giving his daughter a bath, she was standing up in the bath as her father washed her back and small ass cheeks. When he had her turn around I saw her young hairless cunt and puffy lips for the very first time...

In my opinion, that's repulsive.   The story uses the term 18 more times in referencing this child.  Part 2 of the story it is used 34 times.

To sum it up.  If you're going to use it, do so, but don't overdo it.

As for ass, arse.  It's a US/Brit thing.  Fries/chips, mom/mum, football/soccer.  It's all fine and just reminds me of the authors nationality when I catch a British term.

I'm a bit like you, JV: "cunt" I find to be a very brash and crude word, and certainly quite demeaning when used. Unlike you, though, I try and avoid its use at all costs because of that; "pussy" I find is  much gentler word, and if I need to be more creative in my verbiage, "fuck-tunnel" and "cock socket", et hoc genus omne (hopefully I chose the correct Latin phrase there), work nicely. (I was going to list "cock dock" in that, but I last used that to describe a person and not simply their implements for intercourse.)

In regards to ass vs arse, it's six of one, half dozen the other with me also; they get used interchangeably here in Australia, along with bottom or, if you wish, khyber pass (although I just use the word khyber, since it's what I'm used to saying; ask and I'll tell you the story behind that).

Just skipping past the difference between ass, and arse.  It's words in context.  One of the things that puts me off of a story is breaking my suspension of disbelief.  So, using your example, a british exchange student saying "Arse, Biscuits," or "Crisps" helps me suspend my disbelief.

These dialectic differences help tell people's speech apart in dialog.  You don't have to keep repeating "She said," or "The British exchange student said" if you can tell the difference between How they speak.  Likewise, there's feminine, and masculine ways of speaking, and thinking (From cultural roles) that we pick up on, subconsciously, because we're immersed in the dialog.

What does take me out of the immersion are things like a bad simile, repetition, unnecessary description, Veronica Marsing (The opposite of Buffy-speak. High schoolers talking like graduate professors of philosophy, because they're not written by high school students, even valedictorians.)  All things I use as literary techniques when I want to remind the reader they're reading a story, but try to avoid when I want to immerse them in a conversation/sexual action.

Context, how and when the words are used.  By extension, when you want to say Hardon, and when you want to say throbbing turgid manhood.  In this example, you want her to gasp at the sight of his throbbing turgid manhood, but when it gets down to the meat-piston action, you want to focus on the action.

Also, realistically, people just say fucked up shit in bed.  After they collapse gasping, and sweaty in a bedroom steamy with the scents of lust, they might catch their breath, and do pillow talk, but after a fast exciting break of "Ooh, ah, yes.  Faster, faster!"  Did I leave the stove on?

At this point, words fail them.  "How was that?"

"Great."  What else is she going to do, describe the sensation down to the nerve ending, or just absently play with the puddle of semen on her panting midriff?

I don’t think I ever used the C-word in writing, although I might if I felt it really fit as in I wanted the reader to hate the character using the word.

Recently a very smart and cute girl I know of 19 used the word while we were chatting.  She’s not fond of the shape of her butt despite it looking fine to me.  She said this very recently in response to me describing my stripper Cardi’s butt (direct quote):  “Lol, I love how you describe her, and while i don't want a bubble butt, I'd like to have a curvier one. I guess I'll have to settle for one that can almost be fucked like a cunt lol.”

I guess the C-word can be used the same way the N-word or the Q-word are occasionally.  If you’re a woman, you can say it at your own discretion.

Chat?   Are you sure it's a female.   Unless it's a generational thing, not many females use that word.

Though, I have been called "a nasty c*** " by a girl a couple of times.  I was dating her ex.  She couldn't get over him.

Yes, I’m sure she is a she.  It was the one and only time she used the C-word that I recall, and I text with her most days.  I made a point of describing her as smart, as I have no doubt she is smarter than me despite my 3 college degrees.  She does use sex and rough sex as escapism for stress relief, and may have used the word ‘for effect’.  She’s good friends with Eljorn too, might even talk with him more than me.

How you would go about verifying the sex of your very close stripper friend seems to be a challenge for some people.

"Butt."  Is a boy word, somehow?  What do girls say, then?

She writes about her true life experiences and sent me a link a little while ago about what happened this past Sunday, which I just read.  During rough play it seems her Master uses the word ‘cunt’, so I guess she has gotten use to the word at least as far as being comfortable using it in her writing and talking to me.

I probably verified the gender of my stripper by seeing and touching her vagina.

To my mind, use whichever word is right in the context, especially if they are the thoughts or words of a particular character.

Say the sentence out loud, pretending to be your character - if the word sounds right in context, then it's the right word.

Maybe explore using other, less harsh words - cunny, mouse, kittie (notice how they don't finish in a consonant?)

(As to whether girls use the c-word, I can tell you that British teens & early twenties use it a lot when they think adults are not listening, but generally as an insult or a threat, often shouted; "Don't be such a ..., I will punch you in the...".

In fact, when they are talking about their own sexual organs, they are likely to get super-vague; "Inside me" and similar.)

I also just assumed that you talked to her more than long enough that she would have mentioned that she identifies as a man, or attack helicopter.

Wait, is this the stripper names thread?  I remember one named "Apache" now.  (She was Tiwa/Castillian.  From Apache Junction, where she grew up.)

No this is not my blog Psi, try and focus.

Actually the way she once went after a guy that was trying to distract me from tipping her on stage once was sorta like an attack helicopter.  When her legs get to twirling around that pole she can fly and do some serious damage especially in those 7” heels.

I'm not a writer, but this seems like the best advice I've read in this thread.

In fact, the one story I tried to write failed for exactly this reason. I wrote a line something like, "I caught her staring lustfully at my..." I first wrote "vagina," but that seemed too clinical for the context. "Cunt" definitely wasn't an option, and since I was writing in the first person, "pussy" isn't a word I would have used. "Womanhood" sprang to mind, but since the story wasn't set in 1853, that didn't work. "Nether region"? Nope. "Down there"? Maybe, but it didn't seem to work. I eventually gave up.

In my experience, American women only use the word "cunt" in a pejorative sense, e.g. "She can be a really stupid cunt" or, as you put it "Don't be such a cunt." And you're right that an average woman, especially when speaking to a lover, would normally use a vaguer term like "inside me" or "down there."

Back to the question in the OP. As others have pointed out, ass vs. arse is an American vs British thing, so the context/setting will determine which to use. I'd use the word "ass" or "butt" in a romantic conversation, but in describing someone, I'd more likely use "butt," e.g. "She has such a lovely butt." I'll also, at times, use "bum," opening myself up to accusations of Anglophilia.

And I recently learned there's a big difference in the word "fanny" when used by an American vs. a Brit (or Australian). Though it isn't widely used anymore, the word "fanny"  here means "butt," while across the pond it means "vagina" (or "pussy" or whatever). Thus, Brits laugh out loud when they hear Americans refer to a "fanny pack."

And learning this, of course, led me to understand the lyrics to the Queen song "Fat Bottomed Girls" in a whole new light...

For some reason I can’t explain as an older man, I frequently write a teen girl character in the first person.  In which case Miss Barabara, I have used ‘down there’, ‘inside me’ as you said and even ‘my special place’.  Often the character evolves to use (or think in) more vulgar terms as they are being used by a male (or males) in her presence, such as ‘pussy’.

Keep in mind that what I wrote above is chiefly a reflection of my personal sensibilities and tastes. They're definitely not rules or guidelines, and they're not necessarily a reflection of how women (and girls) might act or might say in a given situation in 2018. Also keep in mind that I'm a failed writer, and that I don't normally read erotic fiction.

I think context is everything, both the emotional and physical context. Does it seem likely that the given character in the given situation would say/do that? If so, then go for it. If not, then chose something else.

By the way, I though of one notable exception to my general proscription against the word "cunt." So, you're there, lying on the bed together, engaged in serious foreplay, and getting really hot and ready. Then she leans forward and whispers in your ear, "I'm gonna suck your cunt until you scream my name."

That works.

Also, "Between my legs," and if she's the silly kind of girl, who likes silly sex (Yes, there are, lots of them) pussy is one of those silly sounding words.

Cunt and twat are grunts.  Gutteral, and brutish.  Obviously guy words, like slut...  However, there's girls that are into that kinda ideation, and they don't necessarily get that from men.  (For instance, butch lesbians often use twat.)

One that's mostly British is "Cunny."  However, as noted, Cunt doesn't mean the same thing over here as over there, and "Fanny" is another one.  Most Americans that even use the word fanny seem to use it like booty.
