OK, I’m here and awake.  Now what?

People say, "Aww, that's too bad. Have you tried warm milk?"

Or, a few shots of bourbon?

Or an AmbienTM?

Welp, that is about it.  You come and check in and leave.  It is one of the most boring clubs in the whole world because members of the club don't normally show up at the same time.  In fact, I don't think I've been to the club and encountered someone else.  Boring for sure, that's why there are no membership dues to be a member.

Oh the bourbon works great, except I get told I snore and stink of the bourbon.  I had 3 beers.  It wasn’t enough.  Maybe 2 hours sleep.

Dan tells me I snore when I drink bourbon also.  He even recorded me one night, the brat!

Better than snoring all the time like he does.

My theory is I always snore.  It’s only noticed when I fall asleep first.  I only fall asleep first if I drink.

Stay away from Ambien. I think it permanently damaged my sleep. Now I shout a lot in my sleep and also hit my wife (gently so far) or throw myself out of the bed. My guess is that the paralysis sauce that immobilizes a sleeping person so that I can dream about e.g. killing things with my bare hands becomes insufficient from time to time.

Advil PM works. Good for 5 or 6 hours tops. No pain. And decent sleep. Takes about an hour to take effect so get a book and within an hour, sound asleep.

I could sleep if I wanted to. But I don’t want to. Sleep is boring.

True. Plenty of time to sleep when we pass on.  ;D

When our kids were young I sometimes worked three jobs to keep food on the table. I rarely got more than four hours of sleep and always told my wife I could sleep when I got old.

Well, guess what? I got old and now I can't function very well unless I get at least seven hours. The kids are all grown and I'm mostly retired so it worked out pretty well. I even wake up before my alarm sometimes.

I still wake up about the time I would have before I retired. Guess it is hard to break a long habit.

Same.  For the last 15 months I haven't worked.   I still wake up at 4:45-5:00 every morning.

Been years since I worked. Still, 5 AM it's rise and shine. Yeah...rising is the best I can do with my old arthritic body.

Then there's the morning the female cat gets lonely and comes in at 4 AM. At least a loud purr is better than a buzzing or clanging alarm. :D

Lately I’ve been in bed and lights out at 2 or 3 am, and awake at 9 or 10.  Pandemic hours.  Not much going on anywhere.  I’ve been in court only a half dozen times this year.  Everything else has been on Zoom, so I typically have shorts and espadrilles on from the waist down.

2 in the a.m. and finally getting that sleepy feeling.  So would it be "better late than never" or is it too early in the morning to say that??

Woke up about 2:30 this morning. Going back to sleep just wasn't working. After an hour the "wake up" cat joined me. She snuggled in and purred as I petted her. Finally crawled out of warm blanket and flipped on the coffee.

Wish Shiela was closer
We could find something to do since we're not sleeping. ;D

Warm blankets and hot coffee... I think we add a steamy hot shower and there will be plenty to keep us occupied  :emot_kiss:

Glad to see I'm not the only one with sleep trouble.. My biggest issue is I typically wake up threw the night, hard as a rock and the wife just isn't up for a nid slumber romp  :'(
