Won the INS proceeding.  Won the trial.  Probably pregnant wife, or I wasted an awful lot of baby batter.  Now I’m thinking about getting up at 4:30 a.m. to take my baby to the band hall so he can make it to Regionals, by bus departing at 5:30 a.m.  Ugh.  I had a bottle of Cabernet that’s worn off.

Damn client woke me up at 2:30 in the morning from nursing home.  He is the ward in a guardianship proceeding and has been found to be mentally incompetent.

“Rick, it’s 2:30 in the morning.”

“Oh.  I’m sorry.  You kind of lose all concept of time here (the mental ward).”

How the fuck did he get access to a phone in the middle of the night?  Ugh.

Puppy is keeping me up.  Wifey gets up every five minutes to tend to her, then keeps bringing her into our bed to sleep.  I keep waking up, and taking her back to her crate in the kitchen.  Last time I did that, I stepped in a nice pile of puppy shit on the bedroom floor.  I’m putting Wifey in the crate, if this keeps up.

For two days everything I ate or drank seemed to have an unpleasant somewhat metallic taste.  I first noticed it Wednesday evening eating homemade pizza.  Thursday evening I actually opened a second bottle of red wine thinking the first had gone bad.  Nope, both bottles tasted the same, metallic and unpleasant.  What a waste of good wine.

I complained about this taste at work on Friday finally realizing it wasn’t the food and drink but something else.  One of the girls in my group googled something probably ‘bad taste in mouth’ and began asking me asking me from the list:

On chemo?
No.

Bad oral hygiene?
I brush often, so no.

Pregnant?
Probably not.

Dementia?
A distinct possibility.

Then others speculated I was coming down with the flu.  Here it is 4:30AM Saturday and no flu yet.  I stopped on the way home Friday at happy hour and ordered two pounds of extra hot wings just hoping that would overwhelm the unpleasant metallic taste.  For the most part it seems to have worked.  But now I can’t fucking sleep!!!

Metallic taste is a warning of diabetes, liver, or pancreatic cancer.  I’d get it checked out if it persists.

Planning on sleeping well tonight.  Fever finally broke, so I don’t plan to be up ever other hour tonight.  And puppy is sleeping well in kitchen finally.
