  Smells of RINO Op Research to me, and smells of a McConnell leak to the Post, after spending so many millions, why not take this low shot as well. All the 'Never Trumpers' had the same comment, except goofball McCain who did not word his comment as instructed...

  Interesting none of the Never Trumpers had such comments about Senator Menendez, indicted, and on trial for graft and tax evasion, as well as Ethics, quaint thought, eh... but none of these holier than thou missed a beat when it came to trying to purge a Conservative from their midst, on day one.

Woman says Roy Moore initiated sexual encounter when she was 14, he was 32

Corfman, 53, who works as a customer service representative at a payday loan business, says she has voted for Republicans in the past three presidential elections, including for Donald Trump in 2016. She says she thought of confronting Moore personally for years, and almost came forward publicly during his first campaign for state Supreme Court in 2000, but decided against it. Her two children were still in school then and she worried about how it would affect them. She also was concerned that her background — three divorces and a messy financial history — might undermine her credibility.

“There is no one here that doesn’t know that I’m not an angel,” Corfman says, referring to her home town of Gadsden.

Corfman described her story consistently in six interviews with The Post. The Post confirmed that her mother attended a hearing at the courthouse in February 1979 through divorce records. Moore’s office was down the hall from the courtroom.

Neither Corfman nor any of the other women sought out The Post. While reporting a story in Alabama about supporters of Moore’s Senate campaign, a Post reporter heard that Moore allegedly had sought relationships with teenage girls. Over the ensuing three weeks, two Post reporters contacted and interviewed the four women. All were initially reluctant to speak publicly but chose to do so after multiple interviews, saying they thought it was important for people to know about their interactions with Moore. The women say they don’t know one another.

“I have prayed over this,” Corfman says, explaining why she decided to tell her story now. “All I know is that I can’t sit back and let this continue, let him continue without the mask being removed.”

This account is based on interviews with more than 30 people who said they knew Moore between 1977 and 1982, when he served as an assistant district attorney for Etowah County in northern Alabama, where he grew up.

The situation is this: The Washington Post talked to 30 people for this story. They name -- and have spoken to -- four women who a) do not know each other b) did not contact the Post before the Post contacted them and c) all tell very similar stories about Moore's decades-ago approach and intentions. They confirm that one woman's mother was in an Alabama courtroom on the day the accuser said she first met Moore. (Her daughter was 14 at the time.)

This isn't just some story slap-dashed together by a news outlet you've never heard of before. This is a deeply reported piece in which the reporters are entirely transparent about how they came upon the story and reported it out. Only the most biased minds could read the Post story and conclude that it was a "hit piece" or some sort of partisan attack.

Ms. Corfman couldn’t be reached for comment. A family member of Ms. Corfman’s reached by phone said, “The story as we know it is completely accurate.” He said he had heard the account from Ms. Corfman and added “this happened, this is not fake news.”

“Everything that I know that I said is accurate. I stand by my statement,” said Martha Brackett, who is quoted in the story as refusing to let Mr. Moore date her daughter, Wendy Miller.

“I didn’t seek anybody out to tell them anything, they sought me out and I answered them truthfully,” Ms. Brackett said.

“I stand by the interview I gave The Washington Post and feel that I am represented accurately in the story” said Debbie Wesson Gibson, referring all other questions to her account given to the newspaper. Ms. Gibson told the Post that she dated Mr. Moore for two to three months in 1981, when she was 17 and he was 34.

Gloria Thacker Deason, another woman mentioned in the article, couldn’t be reached for comment.

Kristine Coratti Kelly, a spokeswoman for the Post, said, “We stand by our reporting.”

According to the article, none of the women came to the newspaper with their stories, and spoke to reporters only reluctantly after they had been found through reporting initiated by the Post.

  The story is Op Research, clearly, patched together with a phony story of a Post reporter who just happened to overhear a comment at a Judge Moore rally, and through diligence, followed it to it's conclusion.

  Roy Moore could switch parties, I suppose, and find the media protecting him and potential Senate colleagues on the Sunday shows, seeking to protect his good name, pointing out why now, why when he is 70 years old, after running for office so many times, with some controversy, why would this story break now?
