Tonight wife and I rewatched "Downton Abbey".the movie. Still found it most enjoyable.

Tomorrow we will attend an actual movie theater to see the new movie that just came out.  It's been more years than I can remember that we've gone to a theater. Wife's mobility problems are a big reason.

We're attending a smaller theater that gets first run movies. Owner must have serious connections. There's a Dairy Queen next door. Owned by same guy...so ice cream treats allowed in the theater. :D

Survivor, season 43 finale.  Love this show. Haven't missed a season.

So happy for the winner, much deserved. 


And we did see Downton Abbey yesterday at the movies.   Loved it.  Cried though.

I had to after the sad news today about the death of Ray Liotta.

It'd been a couple years so I was due anyway..."Goodfellas"! The realism the talented cast brought to the movie made the true story so much more real.

Interesting note. The actual Henry Hill, played by Liotta, started telling people who he was after the movie came out. That got him kicked out of the witness protection program.

Also several real mobsters were hired to make the movie more realistic. They used fake social security numbers. It's not known how they really got paid.

Went to see TopGun Maverick last night at the movies.

That movie had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.  You've got to see it in the big screen, don't wait for it to go to streaming.  Holy flipping hell was that movie good. 

And Tom Cruise is welcome to jump on my couch any day.  I informed Dan that Tom Cruise is now on my list.

A few years ago I visited Eglin Air Force base in the panhandle of Florida. They have a museum there on the history of flight. In the museum they have simulators visitors can go into and experience the flight of one of the fighter jets, from taking off from a carrier to being chased by an enemy aircraft and back to landing on a carrier. The simulator is set up in such a way that you feel everything an actual pilot would feel. It was, to say the least, one of the best simulated rides I ever had.

The Janes, a documentary on HBO. A group of young women living in Chicago who started a safe abortion site for hundreds of young women who were scared to go to the Mob run abortion places during the late 1960s and early 1970s. The Chicago Police finally arrested them but their lawyer, knowing the Supreme Court was nearing a decision legalizing abortion, used continuances to stall their trial. In the end, the case was thrown out because of Roe vs Wade.

The documentary comes at a time when the Supreme Court may stop legalizing abortions and if you watch any or all of this HBO documentary, watch the very beginning when a woman describes what she and another woman went through when they paid the Mob run abortionist for their abortions.

Probably only of interest inside the UK.

Just started watching Derry Girls (Channel 4 and Netflix). I had thought it was just for teenagers but someone recommended it. It is about teenagers at a catholic girls school in Northern Ireland at the time of the troubles and is hilarious IMHO. Some of the slang has to be decoded for non-NI residents.

I've been wanting to see that ever since I saw the actresses on the british baking show holiday edition. They seemed quite funny.

I started watching Wild Babies on netflix. About the lives of newborn animals out in the wild and in some of the harshest conditions. So far there are lions, seal pups, wild dogs, and my favorite are the elephants. Such gentle and caring giants when it comes to their young.

I will say that I was confused about the lions. There were no herds of animals or congregation of beasts, as an all knowing monkey held the cub up to the sun... was everything I learned about the circle of life bullshit??!! 😏

I've heard the same of John Cleese. A Cambridge student saw him walking across the quadrangle at Downing College and said, "Good afternoon, Mr. Cleese." The response was, "Bugger off!"

He seems pleasant enough in TV interviews, so maybe the poor student caught him on a bad day.

I have been in the presence of two Doctor Who(s). One, David Tennant, was behind me in a crowded theatre bar with his great mate Richard Wilson (One Foot In The Grave).  Tennant got served before I did; as he turned round with a drink in each hand I was tempted to say "nice bit of time travel, Doctor" but thought better of it.
