The Chi, Season 4 is a waste. There hasn't been a single movie I felt good about watching. Nobody was absolute trash.

Currently watching the BLUE ORIGIN launch.  Reminds me of elementary and middle school when the school had space launches on the TV in every classroom for students to watch.

Dr Death, which can be found on Peacock.  Based on a true story of an inept neurosurgeon in Dallas. Many of his patients that go in for a minor procedure on their spine end up paralyzed or dead.

Duntsch used cocaine and alcohol before he operated, performed unnecessary surgeries, abandoned at least one patient postoperatively, and refused to take a drug test when repeatedly asked to do so. Under his care, one patient died. Two of my friends brought the civil suits against him and the hospital. Baylor made $65,000 on each surgery he performed, and kicked back an additional $50,000 a month to Duntsch.  His license has been permanently suspended by the Texas Board of Medical Examiners.

Was it true that Rick Perry,  when he was governor,  capped the amount awarded in civil suits to $250,000 as was mentioned in the series?

It is a $250,000 cap for non-economic damages like physical pain, mental anguish, and disfigurement. So a parents anguish over the death of a child is capped at $250,000. Perry pushed this through in 2003, and it hasn’t changed since. Only worth $169,000 today, adjusted for inflation.

I watched Episode 5 last night, and it's worth noting that that scene is not indicative of the content going forward.

I'm finding it to be one of the most fascinating things I've ever seen. I used the phrase "magical realism" above, and while it's "historical," you have to suspend your historical knowledge to truly appreciate it. There are blatant anachronisms and gross departures from the historical record, and they're all intentional, and part of the tapestry the producers (based on the novel) have created.

In other words, it's not "12 Years A Slave" or "Roots" or any other depiction of the condition of American slaves you've ever seen before.

Thanks MissB, I shall certainly keep watching. Believe it or not I have never seen "Roots", I have seen "12 Years A Slave"

I have also just finish Fargo - Series 4.  Although enjoyable I did find it very confusing especially the sheer multiplicity of characters, or maybe it's my ever decreasing brain cells letting me down. Series 1 was certainly a hard act to follow.

"Roots" was a straightforward narrative of a American slavery, beginning with the capture of a black man in Africa and his transportation across the Atlantic, and ending (as I recall) at end of the U.S. Civil War.

Little known scene of actor LeVar Burton who portrayed that captured black man in Roots.

Kidding aside, I saw Roots as a teenager in the 1970s.  It was quite the television event at the time.  You were convinced a reckoning with our racist past had occurred.  Yet, here we are still.

I remember Roots being on in the UK around the 70s/80s. Wasn't there a more recent remake?

Just seen the last episode of Clarkson's Farm. I think the overall profit for the year of £144 may have been exaggerated for the TV.  Clarkson had a manager running it for him for a few years before the manager retired and he decided to farm personally.  Also think they didn't amortize the equipment costs in an acceptable way; would have liked to have seen the full balance sheet.

Blood Red Sky.  On Netflix's top ten of the week.  You have heard of Snakes on the Plane?  Now we have vampires on the plane.... ;D ;D   The title says it all.
