"True Romance", typical Tarantino climax  Though it's 25 years old I don't remember seeing it before now.  But then, at my age, there's lots of things I don't remember.

"Sully".  I thought it was great. Anyone have any comments about how faithful it was to the actual event and inquiry proceedings?

From what I've read, the movie over-dramatized the investigation/inquiry. In reality, it wss very pro forma. But that doesn't make for a compelling drama...

I enjoyed the film as well.

Almost forgot; I also saw Clint Eastwood's "American Sniper" recently.  I never realized it was also based on a real person until the funeral scene at the end.

I remember enjoying SULLY.   It has been a while since viewing it though

Over last 4 months we have been watching Designated Survivor with Kiefer Sutherland.   Season 2 or 3.  3 I think.   In some of the scenes they are using actual social media footage of citizens responses to real life events and also concerns with the state of the country.   Very touching.

On Prime, we have been watching Murder Call, a three year police drama series from Australia and Hamish MacBeth, about a small town police officer in Scotland. In the latest episode we watched, the town put on a production of West Side Story. With Scottish accents!

I watched an episode of Beat Bobby Flay, and the basket ingredient to “make the star of your dish” was fava beans.  I was *so* hoping one of the contestants would make “liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti,” but alas.  It did not happen.  It would have brought the house down.

In the book, it was a "Big Amarone."

The Confession Killer on Netflix - documentary on Henry Lucas, supposed serial killer who told the Texas Rangers what they wanted to hear, regardless if it was true or not.

I'd also recommend "Mindhunter" on Netflix.

It depicts the beginnings of the FBI'S BSU, even coming up with the term "serial killer".

There's two seasons now, with hints they'll be looking into the BTK killer who was finally caught a few years ago.

Yes, I agree. Mindhunter is another good series.

"Knives Out" (more red herrings than a fishmonger's)

"The Irishman" (on Netflix, 3:30 hours long; have they brought back intermissions for cinema showings so people can stretch their legs?)

I’m old and usually just hand the remote to my Peruvian to figure out most things like Netflix, but I have figured out how to pause and even back it up if I missed something.  I watched The Irishman about a week ago, was surprised to see Joe Pesci out of retirement.

Trading places... was a movie with an awful message at the end.

They end up rich by tricking some other rich assholes. Then they're probably just rich assholes themselves after that. I didn't see them starting up charities or anything.
