I watched a very depressing show called “Celebrity Autopsy: John Candy.”  It’s a show with a handsome “forensic pathologist,” who reviews death records, medical history, and interviews with friends and family, to come up with a cause of death.  No surprises here. In Candy’s case, he was morbidly obese, with a history of drug and alcohol abuse, and he was filming a comedy in Mexico’s high country, with elevated risks associated with heat and thin air.

So they reviewed Candy’s life, his insecurities, the way he self medicated with pizza and beer... He died of a myocardial infarction at age 43.  By the time it was over, I was ready to cut my own wrists, and swore off booze, pizza, and risky behaviors. I’ve sworn off the celebrity autopsy show too!

Watch the end of Captain America: Civil War

Yes, I know where he got it.  That wasn't the question.  WHY DID HE HAVE IT ON HIM?  You want me to spell it out for you, vertically, just to waste space in condescention, or can I trust you to read it horisontally?  Go back, and read it again.  It's in CAPS, so you can't miss it.

He went for a walk in the Park with Pepper, to talk to her about knocking her up, then got surprised by the Wizard out of nowhere.  Okay, you mean to tell me that he's carried it with him, at all times, ever since then, despite insisting that he CAN'T call him when Banner, his science buddy practically pleaded for him to.  With a threat to the planet looming over him.

He still didn't want to, but he carried the phone with him, for what, old times sake?  He didn't update his contacts, as if he was a tech genius or something wearing an nanosuit that can hack into the Shield helicarrier with a button, but he's still carrying that old flip-phone around with him?

Your "Duh" is noted.  It still doesn't explain why he had it in his pocket, other than as a literal Plot Device.

I watched A Star Is Born this weekend.   I felt ready to swear off booze.  I know it's an addiction for some, but god, I felt so uncomfortable seeing Bradley Cooper like that.  Even knowing it's just him acting.
I could never watch that Celeb Autopsy show.

OMG, we almost watched that yesterday.   But it got voted down by 3-4 vote.  I was for.

We watched Isn't It Romantic in stead.   It was good.  Rebel Wilson is so funny.

Bit of a shaggy dog story for a lead-in.  I hadn't checked in with what Stoya was doing in over a year.  I looked her up and saw she'd been at a movie screening in Brazil for something called 'Ederlezi Rising' that I'd never heard of, so I googled it.  Lo, it's a softcore science fiction movie released in 2018 I'd never seen.  Has a cast of 4 (one is just a voice), and Stoya is one of the 4, an android that the guy on the spaceship uses as a sex toy.  I *had* to hunt it down, of course!  :D
Turns out it's not in my list of sexbots and people >here<, either.  Oops.

I won't spoil it for you in case you want to see the movie.  It's a sad ending, thus the low ratings at IMDB.  Stoya is fully nude in numerous scenes (including soft sex scenes), and I can tell they didn't use a body-double 'cos of her (somewhat) recent tattoo in ~ 2016.  I'm surprised they didn't try to cover the tattoo for the movie.  Maybe they couldn't find concealing mask in alabaster white.

The current review at IMDB is decent, and I agree with it.   It's not a flashy movie, but it makes you think.  I can see why Stoya agreed to play the android in it.

Future World (2018), https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5737536/

I'd have given it a lower score than the 3.2/10 it currently has.  I normally enjoy Milla Jovovich's movies, but this one was a waste of time.  Hopefully she does better in the recently-released remake of Hellboy.

YTF does Tony Stark have a flip-phone?  In the Battle of New York II, before he hears the doomsday donut, he's about to call Steve, and what does he pull out of his track-suit, but a flip-phone?

It was given to him by Captain America, with a single number saved in it (Steve's).

I won't give the reasons in case of spoilers (but watch Civil War), but basically it's an emergency burner.

---------------------

We went to see Avengers: Endgame yesterday, splashed out on 3d.  I won't give you any spoilers, but you can be looking for references (subtle and not-so-subtle) to every single past film in the sequence, all the way back to the first Iron Man film.

It wasn't the film I expected to see, but it was very, very good. Action, of course, plus emotion and the best handling of the major plot device I have seen (or read) for a long time.

Over the weekend I watched the 12-episode series of Nymphs (2013, Finland), https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2449262/

Luckily the copy I found had English subtitles, or I'd have been lost in the first 2 minutes.  Even so, the subtitles were added by a Finnish speaker so they didn't always make sense, and he didn't translate all of the Finnish words.  I googled a few of them.

It was a good series, worth the watch if you're into modern-day fairy tales.  My only issue with the series was that Kati acted more mortal than nymph.

Glass (Jan, 2019)    https://www.imdb.com/title/tt6823368/

IMDB describes it as 'drama, sci-fi, thriller'.  That's as good as anything I can come up with.
It's a better movie about superheroes than any of the Avenger movies, in my book.

It's worth a couple of hours of your time, if you haven't seen it.  8)
The trailer below doesn't do it justice.

The Venom movie.  I heard it was horrible, but it was hard to believe how bad they messed it up!

Double feature:  The Hundred-Foot Journey, which left us feeling so good we also watched Eat Pray Love.  Stayed up way too late.
