I have been in the presence of two Doctor Who(s). One, David Tennant, was behind me in a crowded theatre bar with his great mate Richard Wilson (One Foot In The Grave).  Tennant got served before I did; as he turned round with a drink in each hand I was tempted to say "nice bit of time travel, Doctor" but thought better of it.

Not in the same league as Doctor Who, but a lifetime ago one of the big London cinemas put on a back-to-back screening of all the 1943 Batman movies. I was at the head of the queue outside the cinema, but when the doors were thrown open, Ray Davis (Kinks) and Barry Fantoni (Private Eye) pushed past me, sprinted inside like manic schoolboys, and grabbed the center front-row seats. I followed them demurely (as is my wont) and contented myself with a seat a few rows back. Such silly days.

Disappointed to hear that one of my heroes (Davis) acted so ungentlemanly.

A movie that I havent seen since I lost my V card.
The sandlot. It was my boyfriend's favorite movie at the time, and we would watch it constantly on VHS. He even had to buy a second tape of it because the first one started acting up. When we broke up I never wanted to watch that movie again.

But I saw it on prime and thought... what the hell, it's been 20+ years. I'll give it a go.

I looked it up, maybe not available for prime here, but on Wikipedia, seems like there have been a couple of sequels as well.
One, if not for Darth Vader (Voice only), Would have been only a spiritual sequel, and the other one’s got mental-time-travel.

Just got back from seeing Elvis on MJR $5 Tuesday.  It was really good.  I didn't like the format it was presented at first, but then it settled in nicely.  Wish the movie had focused a bit more on Tupelo - having visited there on our trip north a few months ago.
I read a Variety interview of Alanna Nash that debunked a number of things in the movie.
It was entertaining, but a bit long at 2hrs 26mins.
Two thumbs up.

The popcorn was burned and the frozen coke machine was broken.  So, two thumbs down for the concessions.

A friend of mine used to claim that Elvis was a witness at her wedding.

Then, one day, she showed me some photos of her, her hubby, and . . . Elvis.

It turned out that the happy couple were honeymooning in Las Vegas and decided to get married all over again, just for fun. After the wedding they took in an Elvis show and got to see him backstage. He signed their brand-new wedding certificate. Not exactly a witness, but close enough. :)

Mr Malcolm's List at the movie theater.

Very predictable.  Tolerable.  Dan hated it.

The popcorn was good.  Fresh and hot.  I also got a frozen coke at concessions that was perfect.   Refills on both on the way out the door.

These last few days I surprised myself by watching a couple of old movies all the way through:
  • The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1965)
  • The Stepford Wives (1975)
What kept me going were the actresses. Claire Bloom in the former, and Katherine Ross + Paula Prentiss in the latter. Plenty of big-name male leads in both movies, but the ladies stole the show.

A woo for being young at heart, love.

I, too, love so-called kids movies. My all-time top ten would have at least five that might make movie snobs roll their eyes.

Ratatouille and Despicable Me 2 are on my "desert island" list. Watched them both yesterday while being bedridden.

then I watched Stg Stubby, and the entire Cosmos: A Space Time Odyssey series... again.

Loved Ratatoullie.  Have not watched it in so long.

Nobody in the family has viewed a Despicable movie.  Maybe next rainy day we'll check it out.

Thor:Love and Thunder getting bad reviews.  That was supposed to be our movie next Tuesday. Hmmm

Aside from a bunch of kids shows, AEW Wrestling, and some stuff on HGTV, the show I just finished was season 1 of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.  It was amazing.  If you can watch it, watch it.  It goes back to the old episodic nature of the older shows, so while it helps to watch the previous episodes, it's not required to know what's going on.

Always close the program you're running before exiting the holodeck

Yesterday I stumbled across the original Fugitive TV series, starring David Janssen as Dr Richard Kimble and Barry Morse as Lt. Philip Gerard.

The first episode of Season 1 also stars Vera Miles, one of my favorite actresses.

I remember watching the series when it was first released, and enjoying it immensely. I still remember some of the episode plots, but I'd completely forgotten William Conrad's growling narration.

I remember it being on TV, but at a time in my life when there were other priorities (pub, football, girls). Never have seen it.

Fantastic beasts: the secrets of Dumbledore

I truly enjoyed the first two fantastic beast movies and have been quietly waiting for this one to come out, and the final confrontation between Grindelwald and Dumbledore, and how Newt Scamander will save both worlds using his cute and weird little creatures.

For the most part, the movie did not disappoint but I was not a fan on the ending. It felt slow and sluggish and anticlimactic. Here I was expecting fireworks, and instead it felt like car insurance seminar where one by one somebody walks up talks while everybody just stands there doing nothing. I could have done without the last 15 minutes of the movie.
