Death on the Nile, the 2022 version. On HBOMax.  Interesting beginning. We also watched the 1978 version the next day and very little difference except for the 2022 version's beginning.

The Sound Of Music which, just so happens to be my all time favorite movie.  This viewing estimate as the 120th time at least, yes, not exaggerating.  I watch it at least 4 times a year, over the last 37 years. So I may actually be around 140 viewings.

Then there is the broadway shows.  4 times on Broadway Detroit. Once on Broadway NY.  3 times at the Stratford Festival in Canada.

1:20am, time for bed.

Not a movie but a documentary:

Stalin's Executioners: Katyn 1940 (dir. Cédric Tourbe. Arte France, 2020)

I'm familiar with the historical details of the Katyń Massacre, but had never seen footage of the exhumations and autopsies until I watched this documentary.

Be sure to see the British comedy film The Death of Stalin (2017) if you haven’t. One of my favorites.

Very much agree. Seen it twice, it's brilliant. By the same writer as "The Thick Of It" I believe.

I'm revisiting the old 1984 Adventures of Sherlock Holmes TV series. Some of the episodes are great; some are not so good. I've never liked Jeremy Brett's over-the-top portrayal of Sherlock Holmes and try to ignore the supercilious snarls and melodramatic over-acting. Definitely not a likeable character.

Ha, ha. Mrs ODK and I loved the Jeremy Brett versions when they were first shown.  Haven't seen them since.

Basil Rathbone more closely resembles my idea of the great consulting detective, though Hollywood's decision to shift many of the later movies to a contemporary setting was a bad one.

I also love watching Robert Stephens camping it up in The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes with Colin Blakely as Dr Watson. Slick screenplay by Billy Wilder and I. A.L. Diamond, sumptuous soundtrack by Miklós Rózsa, and would you believe Irene Handl as Mrs Hudson and Christopher Lee as Mycroft. I keep coming back to this movie whenever I need cheering up.

Why on earth did they (or were allowed to) give this the same name as the iconic David Bowie movie?

I started the entire series from scratch. I know what happens, but i want a refresher on details so I started from the beginning. I'm just now rewatching season 3 but I can hardly wait to get to the end. My coworkers are saying it isnt an excited end, but a fitting one.  I just dont want to be disappointed.

PLEASE DO NOT REPLY.
I heard enough at work and from my friends. I do not wish to know more opinions. Might discourage me. Thank you 💋

Began watching Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix. It premiered Friday and supposedly takes after the movie of the same name. Can't remember the movie but do remember reading the novel by Michael Connelly.  The episodes I have watched are pretty decent.

Good to know. We're planning on starting to watch soon. I've enjoyed the novels.  Hope the producers stay close to the book characters.

The movie with Matthew McConaughey was pretty good.

THE BAD GUYS
THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT
THE LOST CITY

The movie theaters near us have $5 Tuesdays (with free popcorn).  Not much going on this Tuesday. So I'm thinking FATHER STU.  Has anybody watched it?  Don't need reviews, just a thumbs up or thumbs down.  I'm on the fence after the trailer.

Can't wait for DOWNTON ABBEY (Tues May 24th), TOP GUN (May 31) ELVIS (June 20th release).  With Elvis, the trailer had me ready to jump out of my seat and dance.

I'm also on the fence with THE NORTHMAN.

Door county drive in is opening up this weekend, but I'm not sure about the movies. They are playing Uncharted, and Spiderman.  I may go because Tom Holland is so friggin cute, but that's about it.

I wont see Top Gun because I dislike Tom Cruise, and I wont see Elvis because "the womb" is a huge fan of his.

We were great fans of the TV series of Downton Abbey but didn't think much of the first movie.  Mrs ODK went with some friends to see the second one and spent so much time giggling at the silliness that someone else in the audience told them to shut up.  Septuagenarian cat fight ;D

Free popcorn?  Nowadays, popcorn costs more than a ticket.  ;D ;D

Wasn't too impressed with the new Firestarter movie. It was supposed to be closer to the Stephen King novel than the original movie was.  Special effects were pretty good though.

Finished the tenth and final episode of Netflix's Lincoln Lawyer.  I thought it was pretty decent.

Tonight on HBO starts the two part series on the life and times of George Carlin. Really liked his brand of humor.

George Carlin... was at a friends house, and her dad was watching it, and I heard the term blowjob for the first time.
