The guys who make south park apparently spent a fortune to make a studio devoted to making deep fake videos.

The Spirit of St. Louis (1957) directed by Billy Wilder, and staring Jimmy Stewart as Charles Lindbergh.

Netflix    The Queens Gambit

I've watched Episode 1.  I liked it.    Dan was hating it.  I'll be watching it on my own.   When we do watch TV, we usually watch it together, so I'll have to find a time to watch it on my own.

That's too bad, I quite liked it.  Try to convince him to watch one more episode.  It is a good story, but even if he still can't get into it he might just keep watching for the eye candy factor - Anya Taylor Joy is hot dressed 60's style.

Just finished The Queens Gambit.   And I now have the urge to dust off the chess board.

Oh god, I loved it.  I was anxious at times with her lifestyle of bad habits.  But I've always loved chess and loved watching the games.  Very enjoyable to watch.

I loved the ending.   Meaning the last 2 minutes when she got out of the car in MOSCOW and walked.

(edit - changed Paris to Moscow)

I know I felt the exact same way.  Love that she sat down and "Lets Play" perfect.

Vår tid är nu (a/k/a The Restaurant) on Netflix.  Swedish show in the tradition of Upstairs Downstairs.  Set in Stockholm, post WWII, prominent restaurant family struggles in the aftermath of WWII.  I haven’t binge watched a show in ages, but this one totally has me.  Swedish with subtitles.

I've also enjoyed some of the Scandinavian content on Netflix.

Turn Me on, Dammit
Teenage drama, somewhat unusual in that the horny and sexually frustrated main character is a girl.

The Heavy Water War
Covert sabotage to keep WW2 Germany from getting their hands on the heavy water from Norway they needed for a plutonium production reactor

Occupied
A hokey premise - Russia invades Norway after Norway threatens to stop selling oil and gas - but an interesting 24 episode story of how things might play out afterwards.

Unfortunately only Occupied is still on Netflix, though I did find a low quality copy of Turn Me on, Dammit on dailymotion a while ago.

Slight divergence to include radio.

On the BBC there is an occasional radio show created by Moe Syzslak Rich Hall (whom I love) about American life and attitudes. Over the last couple of weeks it has been about the election. I have come to the conclusion that it is easier to teach an American the laws of cricket than a Brit about the US election process  ;D

I just finished watching ‘Breaking Bad’ on Netflix including the 2019 movie ‘El Camino’.  I never watched it when it was big and first came out.  I suppose I’ll try the prequel series ‘Better Call Saul’ next.

I've watched Breaking Bad twice now.  Once pre-Dan, once with Dan.  Enjoyed second time just as much as first.

I tried Better Call Saul, but never got into it.  Only went about 7 episodes in before I gave up.  Let me know your thoughts, I can always pick up where I left off.

El Camino was a fun follow up to BB.  Good to see the characters after being away from it for so long (since I previously watched it).

We've done Breaking Bad three times now, movie twice.

Enjoy Better Call Saul. It's fun watching the characters develop as they move closer to the time of Breaking Bad. Seeing the construction of the underground meth lab under the laundry was fun.

Give it another try Jules.

I second that, thoroughly enjoyed BCS. I understand the next series will be the last.  Haven't seen El Camino yet.

Just watched "Galaxy Quest" for the first time since it was released.

Still as hilarious as before and by Grabthar's Hammer that Sigourney Weaver/Gwen DeMarco/Tawny Maddison could feature in http://www.kristensboard.com/forums/index.php?topic=320.0;topicseen

The ultimate in propagandistic fear mongering of the Reagan years.  Neo cons still masturbate to it.  They show it in Russia every few years, as an example of how stupid Americans are.  Now they only need point at Trump.

Can't I just watch a 1980s movie about nuclear war and not have it be about 40 year old cold war paranoia?
