The legendary Gregg Allman passed away Saturday afternoon. He was sixty-nine years old. One of the best...

Gregg, along with his brother Duane, moved back to Macon, GA after a short stay in L.A. and together "founded" Southern Rock.  Shortly thereafter, Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle accident.  The band produced many classic albums.

Gregg punished his body with drugs and alcohol.  Willie Nelson, while presenting the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame award to Gregg in 1995 warned him to sober up if he wanted to live any longer.  And he did.

Another icon leaves us too soon. I have literally seen the Allman Brothers live more than 20 times and they never disappointed me, even when Gregg wasn't at his best he still had a presence about him that drew you in. Their annual shows at the Beacon Theater in NYC were truly amazing.
